As Easter comes to a close, the salvation and blessings of God continue. We’d love to encourage our UK supporters that ICC’s work is only possible through their partnership, and to invite them to connect us with friends or churches who may share our ethos.

Did you know about Gift Aid? Gift Aid is a UK government scheme allowing registered charities to reclaim basic rate tax on donations from UK taxpayers.

If you Gift Aid your donation China Concern will receive 25% extra, so for every £1 you donate China Concern will receive an additional 25p, at no extra cost to you. That means if you donate £100 China Concern will receive £125 in total. That extra £25 could make all the difference for a child with a disability.

To claim Gift Aid you must be an individual donor and a UK taxpayer.

So, if you are eligible, please complete a Gift Aid form when you donate, every bit helps. To donate and complete a Gift Aid form you can go to www.chinaconcern.org

Isolation is a huge problem for children with disabilities, like Wanqiang, in rural China.

There are NO disability services anywhere near their homes. There are no therapists, specialists, or social workers nearby. There’s nowhere to get respite – or even advice – about how to help.

We need your help . You can enable us to send specialist teams to Wanqiang and other children like him. Go to www.chinaconcern.org to donate today, and help a child receive the care they urgently need.

“So much can be done to help this boy. Simple things like a trampoline or a swing can calm him down and improve his sleep. Speech therapy can help him communicate and ease his frustration. Special education can reduce his boredom. Sensory tools can help him manage his emotions. Social activities – like group events and camps – can bring joy he’s never experienced.” - Mei Lei, an ICC therapist.

Jiale is a lively, bright ten-year-old with a hearing impairment. She lives in a rural town in the Wangcheng district of Changsha. When our Outreach Team first met Jiale in 2022, they discovered that she had never received professional rehabilitation training before, as her family was unable to afford it. Our team was able to respond to this crucial need by bringing a special education teacher and therapist directly to her home. Jiale and her family have also participated in FPP's fun-filled events, becoming part of our supportive community.

When you sponsor a child like Jiale, you bring love, hope and opportunity to their door. Visit https://chinaconcern.org/sponsor-a-child/ to become an ICC sponsor today!

Weishan is a lively, energetic fifteen-year-old with an intellectual disability, who first joined our Enquan Yuan family in 2019.

Weishan enrolled in the Changsha Children's Welfare Institute Special School and started classes in September. Initially, she didn’t like going to school and often needed her caregiver to bring her to the classroom. However, after a period of adjustment, she now enjoys attending school with the other children, and is excited for each school day. Occasionally, she even helps the teacher during lessons and particularly enjoys art classes.

We’re excited for Weishan to continue her educational journey!

Happy Monday all! We're kicking our week off with an exciting announcement: Venus Chan has joined us as the UK's new Fundraising Manager!

Venus Chan is a development anthropologist with over 20 years’ experience in humanitarian and international development. She has walked closely with communities across cultures and contexts, grounded in dignity, relationship, and love, with a deep conviction that development should reflect God’s compassion in practical, transformative ways. Venus brings extensive experience in fundraising across major donors, churches, corporates, and Trusts and Foundations, alongside strong expertise in project design, monitoring, evaluation, and learning. Her work as an action researcher—including a UNDP Impact Award–winning project in China—has shaped her long-term focus on the Sustainable Development Goals and on integrating programme management, fundraising, and MEL in faithful service.

Originally from Hong Kong, Venus later returned to China to serve children and young people with disabilities—one of the most overlooked groups—before moving to the UK nearly five years ago. She now lives in London with her husband, their son, and (unexpectedly but joyfully) a small colony of bees. As you can imagine, we are very excited to have Venus onboard 😁
