MORPETH COMMMUNITY CINEMA 🎥
NEXT SHOWING-THE ROSES
‘The Roses’ is a fast paced comedy in which Olivia Coleman and Benedict Cumberbatch play a couple whose relationship is marked by her success and the demise of his career, leading to competition and resentment. The beauty of the film is its unpredictability, leaving the viewer to wonder what is coming next and how will it resolve. As may be expected, Coleman and Cumberbatch play their parts brilliantly and with great comic touches. Olivia Colman is the mistress of the poker faced delivery of some fairly fruity language and adult themes; with some strong language, a not entirely modest bit of nudity and sexual references, it is not a film for the faint hearted.
“The Roses is an astringent, sweary screwball comedy-Olivia Coleman is at her best in this portrait of a couple at war” Wendy Ide, Chief film critic of the Observer
“Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch are deliciously savage in this War of the Roses remake. The virtuoso leads turn vicious in an acidly enjoyable portrait of marital breakdown in The Roses” Tim Robey, film critic of The Telegraph.
