A busy day in the woods for the Monday Crew.
1st job was to do the monthly clean & disinfection of the bird feeders, before moving onto hacking thier way around the Railway Walk clearing the overgrowth, so 8 barrows later it was looking something like!

The afternoon was back to thier normal Monday chores, along with tidying a couple of flower beds.

So a busy and productive Monday.

A big thank you Colin & his team of skilled Wood Butchers, sorry (Carpenters) for thier new sign for the 'Snake Path Garden', this along with the many other signs and woodland features they have produced over the years.

Thier next project is to build two new Woodland Libraries, to replace our existing ones, that are now showing thier age, after providing lots of reading pleasure to both adults & littlies over the years.

An excellent turnout for the Saturday team, but let down by the weather.

'The Elite Strimming Team' (Andy, Alfie, Jacob, Halo & Chris) intended on catching up on clearing some of the local PROW, but due to the wet conditions, concentrated on cutting back overhanging shrubbery👏👏

'The Environmental Team' (Yulia Connie & Bobby) continued work in the Orchard & Twizzle, weeding and tidying

While (Kirsty ,William & (our new boy) Leighton fitted a sign on the Snake Path Garden, and moved donated top soil to site.

The Mighty Mowing Team (Jack & Tyler) also struggled with the wet conditions, so moved onto managing controlled strimming of our wildflower areas.

Chris went off on his favourite job of blowing the mess we've made off the footpaths recently with our strimming 🤣🤣

A busy day in the woods again!

The Early Doors Team knocked this morning, with 'passable' excuses 🤣🤣

The Morning Gang (John, Mick, Janet & Julie) hard at work again in the Dipping Pond & Sensory Gardens

The Navvies (Cat, Chris & Lee)spread their skills today with workshop & woodland actives, with strimming our greenspaces & paths this morning & preparing wooden edging for the next project.

So a good day was had by all!🥵

A busy day in the woods today and excellent turnout, with a couple of notable exceptions 🤣
It must be the end of the Spring SAGA Holiday Discounts?

The Navvies split into two teams.
Cat & Colin worked in our workshop cutting and prepared edging boards to replace rotten ones on our footpaths.
Chris Phil & Lee cleared the brash his Nibs had left after cutting back overgrowth this morning, around the Railway & Field Centre.

The Maintainance Team of Mick, Fred & Dennis worked on a problematic strimmer also in the workshop, there was the usual differences of opinion, all over a screw driver!
🤣

A steady Monday for the team, the day started with thining over hanging branches blocking light to our Jubilee Oak, then a litterpick of Pit Hills and emptying poo bins in Churwell New Village.

Then onto the usual Monday afternoon chores, bird feeders etc.

What an effort by the team today 👏👏👏

'The Elite Strimming Team' (Chris Halo Elliott & Joe) under the leadership of Andy were out and about this afternoon, despite the heat, strimming the footpaths thro the Pit Hill allotments, and the footpath down to Churwell New Village, and those linking to Primrose Walk.

Unfortunately their call out for help this morning must have fallen on deaf ears!!

'The Environmental Team' (Amber, Yulia Auntie Janet, Connie & Bobby) planted up and weeded the Snake Path Garden & Twizzle,
along with filling the new planter with top soil by the library ready for planting up.

'The Might Mowing Team' (Jack & Tyler) caugh up with mowing and strimming after our problems with mowers & strimmers this last few weeks.
Also in and amongst Tyler did a fantastic job of moving 10 heavy bags of top soil to site, ready for filling the ne planter🥵🥵

So a fantastic effort by the team, and I didn't hear one grumble!🤣🤣

It was fantastic to see so many folk visiting the woods this nice sunny afternoon, and lots of positive comments for the team, which makes the work of our volunteers worthwhile.
