🎄 SAVE THE DATE! 🎅🏻

On Saturday, the 12th of December, we will be holding our 2026 Christmas Fair between 1pm and 5pm.

🎶 The event will include plenty of live music, including a festive performance by the Tingley Brass Band.

🧁 There will also be stalls, refreshments, sweet treats, a tombola, donkey rides, fairground rides for younger children, and more.

🎅🏻 Importantly, Santa will be visiting us again this year. Bookings to 'Meet Santa' will open in a few weeks.

Entry to the Christmas Fair is free.

If you are interested in getting involved with the Christmas Fair, please get in touch. There are opportunities available for outside stalls, and we are on the lookout for more entertainment suitable for younger children and more musical acts to entertain the crowd with festive songs. On 15 September 1940, during the Second World War, an air battle was fought during the Battle of Britain between the German Luftwaffe and British Royal Air Force (RAF).

Now celebrated as Battle of Britain Day, on that date, the Luftwaffe launched its largest and most concentrated attack against London in order to force the RAF into a battle of annihilation.

The German objective was to gain air superiority over the English Channel and allow the invasion of England, Operation Sea Lion, to proceed.

Marvellous speech by our Morley Town Crier Steven Holt last night, thank you for your fine skills!

You might know that Steven won a competition last month, and came away victorious at The Loyal Company of Town Criers British (LCTC) Championship in Biddulph, Staffordshire.

Didn’t he do well? 🥰

We’re still reeling from last night’s Battle of Britain event, we hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did!

There were 65 people in attendance, and £601.57 was raised towards next year’s St George’s Day Parade - thank you so much for your kind support and generosity 🥰

A few other thank yous to make:

Kellyann Martin the RSSG branch treasurer for arranging the event and activities

Neil Foster the RSSG branch chairman for running Dambusters bingo, helping coordinate the night, providing other decor and some smashing dancing!

Jill Gettings Bellhouse the RSSG branch secretary for selling raffle tickets, arranging activities and running around all night coordinating things!

Teresa Bickerdyke Was Cullen for assisting at the Morley Cricket Club and with catering and ticket selling

Lesley Gettings for coordinating catering and providing awesome homemade biscuits which everyone loved!

Plus a whole host of other kind volunteers and supporters who assisted with decorating the room, catering assistance, providing raffle prizes and so on…

Everyone’s help was vastly appreciated, so thank you so very much… Churchill would have been proud of you all! 😁🙏🇬🇧
