No matter how far this goes, its humbling to be nominated, and to hear that we are " making a difference ".
Thats all we ever wanted to do. 😍

The BBC Radio Merseyside awards recognise individuals and groups that make life better for people in our communities.

Well done Next Steppers!

Life after cancer is never the same as before. 💜

Something most people don’t realize… the journey doesn’t end when treatment ends.

Your perspective changes. Treatment done but then what?

There are also parts that people don’t always see.

After a few years of talking to others at Next Steps, its reassuring to know I'm not the only person who has to handle :

• Lingering fatigue
• Body changes and discomfort
• Emotional ups and downs
• Fear of recurrence
• Adjusting to a new normal

You may look “fine” on the outside, but healing continues long after the last appointment.

Next Steps gives you the chance to exercise but also to talk, get something off your chest, question, share,
and often celebrate.
Its truly, a very inclusive and understanding group.
💜

Being a cancer survivor isn’t just about the battles we’ve fought — it’s also about the quiet joy of still being here, still moving, still laughing.
At Next Steps we get to meet up with fellow survivors for some gentle exercise, good conversation, and plenty of light-hearted moments. Nothing serious or structured — just showing up as we are, stretching our bodies, sharing stories, and reminding each other that life after cancer can still be full of lightness and fun.
There’s something powerful about being around people who truly get it… and something healing about laughing together while we move.

— keep shining, keep moving (even if it’s slowly), and keep finding reasons to smile. We’ve earned every single one. ❤️

Wonderful news today!!

We ,at Next Steps, are delighted to have been awarded a grant from the Flutter UKI Cash4Clubs
programme, delivered in partnership with Sported.

Its sensational news as it underpins and guarentees our commitment to delivering these much needed sessions for Next Steppers. We're gonna be here for a long time! Next years costs are now fully covered.
We are so grateful for such kindness and support.

Cash4Clubs is a small grants scheme focused on supporting adult participation in sport
and physical activity, particularly in areas of need. Cash4Clubs supports community
groups and grassroots sports organisations (like Next Steps) who make sport and exercise more accessible.
to people from underrepresented groups.

So, why's he posting a motivational message, you may ask?
Because every week at Next Steps, we talk, we laugh, we support. (I talk a lot!)

This week we celebrated one member being 5 years NED ( no evidence of disease) and the additional joy of one tablet less to take.

A member returning after a huge operation who was welcomed with hugs and some caring, watchful eyes!

We got positive news about someone else with additional struggles besides the bloody cancer.

Some of the group arranged a theatre trip together

We got our weekly foxtrot lessons which in my case is like quantam physics.

There's more to Next Steps than you think.

You are tougher than this disease will ever be.
Even on the hardest days—when the fatigue feels endless, the appointments blur together, and the fear whispers the loudest—please don't give up.
Your story isn't finished. There are still sunrises you haven't seen, laughs you haven't shared, moments you haven't lived yet. Keep looking ahead, even if it's just one small step, one more treatment, one more breath.
Never underestimate the power of talking.
Tell someone how you're really feeling—the anger, the grief, the tiny sparks of hope. Let the words out. To your family, your friends. Speaking it doesn't make you weak; it makes space for healing, connection, and strength you didn't know you had.
You're not alone in this fight.
There are people who love you fiercely, people who've walked this road before you and are cheering you on, and people right beside you still discovering how brave you truly are.

Keep looking forward—even when it's blurry, even when it's hard.
You've already come so far.
The next chapter is still waiting for you.
Sending you all the strength, love, and stubborn hope today. 💜
You're a warrior. Never forget that.

Today we had a lovely visit from Mal from Phoenix Lodge, Wirral
He brought us a a huge cheque , that was donated by the lodge, so we can continue to deliver our sessions.

Its a much needed boost to our coffers and a boost for our members to see that people care and support them.
This is especially relevant on
We rely on these donations to exist

Such support means a great deal to us and enables us to continue making such a positive impact in cancer recovery.
