International Day of Charity – Give a little, make a big difference

Today is International Day of Charity — a chance to celebrate the people who give their time, energy and kindness to make our communities stronger.

At Montrose Community Trust, there are lots of ways you can get involved and make a difference right here in our community.

🌱 Get your hands dirty in our Community Garden
🧡 Spend time with people at our Dementia Meeting Centre
🏠 Support activities at our Half Time Hub
🥣 Help prepare and serve at Breakfast in the Box
🤝 And so much more!

You don’t need lots of experience or hours of free time. Whether you can give an hour, a morning, a regular afternoon or simply want to try something new, there’s a place for you at Montrose Community Trust.

Volunteering isn’t just about what you give — it’s about the people you meet, the connections you make and the difference you can see in your own community. 💛

This International Day of Charity, why not give a little of your time? You might be surprised by how much you get back.

📩 Get in touch with Montrose Community Trust to find out how you can get involved.

Our community garden is so much more than a place to grow plants — it’s a place to connect, enjoy the outdoors, share memories and make new ones.

In our latest video, staff and members from our Dementia Meeting Centre share what the garden means to them and the positive impact it has on wellbeing and community. 💚

Take a look and hear from the people who make our garden so special.

🏆 ARCHIE WINS SCOTTISH FA REGIONAL GRASSROOTS AWARD! 🏆

We are absolutely delighted to announce that our very own Archie Anderson has been named the Scottish FA McDonald’s Best Young Volunteer Award winner for 2026! 💙👏

And at just 17 years old, we couldn’t think of anyone more deserving.

Archie’s journey with Montrose Community Trust began 14 years ago, when he joined our Little Dribblers programme at just three years old. Today, he has come full circle - working as a Community Coach and helping inspire the next generation of young people through football. ⚽️

But Archie’s contribution goes far beyond his role with MCT.
Over the past four years, he has clocked up more than 500 hours of volunteering, while continuing to give around 8 hours of his own time every week across Montrose FC and Montrose FC Women.

Whether he’s delivering football sessions, creating matchday content, making stadium announcements, helping supporters through the turnstiles or bringing smiles to young fans as Monty Mole - Archie is always willing to get involved and help wherever he is needed. 🙌

From a three-year-old Little Dribbler to an award-winning volunteer and coach…

What a journey.
What an achievement.
What a role model. 💙

Congratulations, Archie! 🏆👏
