It was a busy week last week! As well as hosting our very own Angus Food Summit, we were invited by James Hutton Institute to attend the XL International conference on localised Agri-food systems.

Sustainable Kirriemuir Farm project was selected as the venue for a field visit for over 50 delegates from across the world who work in the field of localised food system thinking.

It was great for Angus and indeed Sustainable Kirriemuir Farm to host such an event, highlighting the importance of communities working together to build a bolder,braver more resilient food system.

Again, thanks to Kirriedumplings Catering for another delicious farm to fork lunch. You can’t get more local than that!

Last week, Angus Climate Hub held its first Angus Food Summit at Sustainable Kirriemuir Farm.

The event was a call to action, to build a food secure future together.

The successful event brought together people with an interest in local food and those working in food & farming across Angus and Dundee.

Perthshire Seed Library hosted a workshop on how a partnership between Perthshire Organic Gardeners and Culture Perth and Kinross libraries is strengthening food security across the region.

Pictish worms delivered a thought provoking workshop on how harnessing the natural efficiency of earthworms, we can create nutrient & biologically rich products that benefit our ability to grow nutritious food.

A big thank you to Kirriedumplings Catering for using produce from Sustainable Kirriemuir’s Farm to provide a beautiful farm to fork lunch for us all. Thanks to Maison Dieu Coffee Roasters - Brechin for powering us with coffee & Rosehip Eco Living for the sauces, herbal tea blends and delicious locally produced cordials.

🌱 Change for Good is back!

Communities across Angus are already responding to a changing climate. Now it's your turn.

The Change for Good Fund is back for its fourth year, offering grants of up to £2,500 to help community groups turn great ideas into lasting local action.

This year, we're particularly looking for projects that help communities become more resilient to both rising living costs and the impacts of climate change.

We'd love to hear ideas that support:

🌿 Nature recovery and biodiversity
🥕 Food resilience and local growing
⚡ Community energy
🤝 Resource sharing and the circular economy
🏘️ Climate adaptation and community resilience
🛠️ Practical skills for climate action

One thing we ask? Work together. The strongest communities are built through collaboration, so every project should involve at least one partner organisation.

Whether it's a seed-saving network, a school nature project, repairing instead of replacing, sharing skills or something completely different, we want to hear your ideas.
