Longfield Hospice Each year the hospice helps over 1,200 patients, family members and carers.

90% of income is raised through the 20 charity shops and voluntary donations.

Longfield Community Hospice provides Hospice at Home, Living Well Services, Counselling and Bereavement Support free of charge to families in Gloucestershire impacted by a life-limiting condition. Longfield Hospice provides free care, 365 days a year for adults in Gloucestershire living with a life-limiting illness and support for their loved ones and carers. This year, Longfield Hospice needs to raise £4million.

We Care Because You Care.

Every day, our nurses and healthcare assistants travel to homes across Gloucestershire. They knock on front doors, knowing that, behind each one, a family is facing the hardest times imaginable.

When Rich's mum needed nursing care, the funding wasn't yet confirmed, and he was in a blind panic. He called Longfield.

We told him what we tell every family: we're not going to stop the nurses coming. If we need to, we will fund it ourselves.

Because a family's need for care doesn't always fit neatly around when statutory funding is agreed. And thanks to people like you, we don't have to wait to find out before we say yes.

"It wasn't about us," Rich says. "It was about my mum. Making her comfortable, making sure she was as happy as she could be."

Thankfully, support from incredible people like you means we don't have to wait. Your generosity allows Longfield to say yes to people who need us, long before we find out whether funding is available.

We are running family group activities over the coming weeks and we’re already awash with pumpkins during the autumn season. The humble vegetable prompted a flurry of creativity – from pumpkins in face masks to decorative floral designs.

The activity was just one of several we ran at this recent session, helping us to gather stories and photos to promote our support for families and children.

Congratulations to John Lewis, who has just received his 10 year service certificate.

John is one of our volunteer drivers, helping patients, families and bereaved people get to and from Longfield for appointments and activities at our Living Well Centre. For a decade, he has offered a friendly welcome, a safe journey and a reassuring chat to the people who rely on that lift.

John first came to know Longfield when his wife was ill. As he puts it, “Longfield was there for both of us. Now it’s my turn to give something back.”

Thank you, John, for ten years of kindness, reliability and good company. We are so grateful to you.

Listen out for Jordan Lansdown on BBC Gloucestershire. Jordan is the founder of the JLUXE activewear collection. Her new Every Mile range, launched at the Stroud Half Marathon yesterday, will be raising funds for Longfield as we looked after her nan in her last weeks of life. She further supported Longfield yesterday by running in the half marathon.

Amy and Chris are heading out to provide respite care to a family.

The gentleman is in end of life and needs round-the-clock support from his wife. His wife needs a break to get her hair done and pick up some shopping.

Our nurses and health care assistants go to homes and support patients so their loved ones can take a much-needed break.

We don’t know how that next respite visit will be funded.
