Help A Hedgehog Hospital Help a Hedgehog Hospital is a registered charity, no.1156376. We rescue, rehabilitate and return.

Help a Hedgehog Hospital exists solely for the preservation and welfare of hedgehogs and is not a political or lobbying organisation. Posted by Debby 🥰Update on Bessie & her babies. They’re doing so well. Bessie is still having daily Hhonic to support her & she is doing a remarkable job, not only is she feeding her babies really well, she is monitoring their temperature & uncovering them or covering them up depending on how hot they are. (She has plenty of soft warm bedding & newspaper but in this video she had shoved it all away as its muggy weather.) Considering she totally rejected all her babies at birth, Bessie is proving to be an incredible Mum. I’m so proud of her. 🥰🥰🥰

Posted by Debby. 🥰Prayers needed for this sweet little hoglet. (Pen for scale.) Poor baby Pickle suffered a horrible re**al prolapse. She is much more comfortable following pain relief & treatment. She will be on a liquid diet for a few days to allow everything to settle down. Fingers crossed she recovers ok. 🤞🤞🤞

Posted by Debby 🥰Beautiful Ralphy moved to a prerelease pen in a lovely countryside setting yesterday. Very proud Mummy moment for me as I handreared Ralphy after his Mum was killed. He arrived as a tiny collapsed hoglet, covered in flystrike. He’s now a strapping 891g. I will miss this adorable, gentle soul. Stay safe Ralphy & enjoy your 2nd chance at life. 🥰🤞

Posted by Debby 🥰Another update on Bessie & her babies. She continues to be such a devoted Mum. You can see how well her babies are doing. (The others are under the blankets.) Well done lovely Bessie. 👏🥰🥰🥰(It is vital that nursing hedgehogs are not disturbed in any way. This little family are in an icu & I video them through the glass without upsetting Bessie at all. Bessie is also very sweet & friendly towards me personally as she was very ill on admission & i think she knows i saved her life. You can see she is very relaxed & happily feeding her babies.🥰)

Posted by Debby 🥰Update on Bessie & her fab babies; Bessie continues to be a good Mum - she is feeding them very well as you can see. Plus she tucks them all under her blankets when they’ve finished. I think i could see six today but it was hard to tell without disturbing them. Fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Posted by Debby. 🥰Prayers needed for this little family. Bessie Bunter arrived with breathing difficulties & she was so obese she couldn’t roll up properly. She was put on Hhonic & a healthy diet & her breathing improved greatly. Today she gave birth & immediately rejected her babies. She shoved them out of her bed & they were cold when i spotted them. I very gently spoke to Bessie & carefully put them back in with with her . Then i left them well alone as hedgehogs are notorious for rejecting or eating their babies if anything upsets them. Well, it seems Bessie changed her mind - thank goodness & is now snuggling them, as you can see in the close up - 2 little baby bottoms either side of her head. (Photo was taken very carefully through the icu window without disturbing them.) Im praying she carries on snuggling her babies & is a good Mummy to them. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
