Kickback Kitchen Returns to Coffee Hall Monday 7th September 2026

It's not street food. It's food for the street.
Cooked locally. Shared fairly. Made for the neighbourhood.

At Kickback Kitchen, we believe good food should bring people together. That's why we cook ready-to-reheat meals right here in the neighbourhood and ask everyone to simply chip in what they can afterwards.

Just, good food that helps build a stronger, more connected community.
Because when everyone chips in what they can, everyone eats.
Kickback Kitchen is about just, good food cooked locally for the whole neighbourhood, where everyone chips in what they can. Just sign up, then pop over to Coffee Hall Meeting Place on a Monday between 5.30pm and 6.30pm to pick up yours.
Afterwards, you chip in what you can online.

August results below....

Weather remains warm with some light showers after a long dry spell, nowhere near enough to be triggering CSO “spillage”. Which makes E.coli a major concern across the board, with a dreadful result even at Stevington which usually benefits from the inflow from Stevington Marsh SSSI.

Nitrate levels remain high and generally higher that last month, but still well below the levels reported further D/S.
Phosphates also high and generally higher than last month with one or two outliers.

Just a reminder. E.coli is directly harmful to human health, so avoid contact with river water more or less everywhere. At these levels, Nitrates and Phosphates are not directly harmful to humans but are harmful to flora and fauna in the river and combined with low flow in dry weather lead to the growth of algae that is harmful directly and indirectly.

📅 Swift boxes go up in August too, you know.

The swifts may have gone, but that’s exactly why NOW is such a great time to get a nest box up. No need to worry about disturbing nesting birds, plenty of time for the box to weather in naturally before next spring, and you’ll be ready and waiting when they return in late April.

Don’t leave it until May and wish you’d done it sooner — get sorted this month!
