🌱 No Mow May for a greener Oldham

🐝🦋We’re committed to improving biodiversity across our neighbourhoods - that’s why we’ve supported No Mow May again, allowing spots of grass and wildflowers to grow and create vital habitats for pollinators like bees and butterflies .

🌍These changes represent only a small percentage of the open spaces we care for across our neighbourhoods, but they can make a big difference for nature and the environment.

🤝Working with partners such as the National Trust, we’re helping to make our neighbourhoods greater and greener for everyone.

🦸‍♂️ Super-dad from Derker is our May Hidden Hero

👏 One of our customers who goes above and beyond volunteering at a local dads charity is our May Hidden Hero. Robert Prestwich from Derker has been helping out at Men Behaving Dadly (MBD) since 2019.

👨‍💻 The graphic designer uses his skills to help the charity, sets up sessions and often represents it at community events – all in his own time.

📸 Robert received his certificate and a £50 shopping voucher from our Funding and Social Value Officer Kevin Field. He said he was humbled to receive the award.

‼️ Beware of bogus callers

We’ve been made aware of two males wearing high‑visibility clothing who are claiming to represent First Choice Homes Oldham and are charging residents in Royton and surrounding areas to clean windows.

Please be aware:
❌ FCHO does not provide a window cleaning service
❌ FCHO will never ask for or accept cash payments from customers

If you are approached by anyone claiming to represent FCHO in this way, please do not engage and do not make any payments.

📞 We strongly advise anyone affected, or who has been approached, to report this to the police immediately.

👶 Music, movement and memories for local families

💛 We’re proud to be funding Baby Boogies – free music, movement and play sessions helping local families connect, have fun and tackle social isolation.

Thanks to a £5,000 investment from us, social enterprise Spark Oldham is delivering sessions for children under five and their parents, grandparents and carers at two community venues:
🎵 Spring Meadows Family Hub, Littlemoor – Mondays, 12.30–1.30pm
🎵 The Crossley Centre, Chadderton – Tuesdays, 1.30–2.30pm

🗣️Our Head of Community Services, Ben Thomas (pictured), said supporting activities like this helps families socialise, build confidence and brings communities together – another way we’re strengthening Oldham as an anchor organisation. Sessions are free and everyone is welcome – just come along and join the fun.
