UK-Med Working towards a world where everyone has the healthcare they need when disasters or crises hit 🌏.

02/06/2026

Emergencies are increasing in scale and complexity.

Conflicts. Disasters. Outbreaks.

In 2026, 1 in 30 people worldwide need emergency aid.

Children, older people, pregnant women and people fleeing from conflict are hit the hardest — often without access to healthcare when they need it most.

This is the reality driving UK-Med’s new 2026–2031 strategy. We are ready to meet the challenge.

Because everyone should get the healthcare they need when emergencies hit.

📍 North Darfur, Sudan | 72 hours later

UK-Med prides itself in getting things done quickly.

In collaboration with Relief International, our team recently built a fully functioning hospital ward in Tawila, in just 72 hours.

Not only that, but we have welcomed our first patients at the facility too.

Sudan is the largest humanitarian crisis in the world. This is a drop in the ocean – but provides much needed healthcare for the communities now calling Tawila home, after displacement from bordering areas.

Stay with Sudan.

These numbers are not just statistics.

Behind them are people, families, homes destroyed and livelihoods lost.

Strikes continue in , and our team on the ground is still seeing the effects of the conflict every day.

That’s why refreshed and quality training is so important.

UK-Med is working closely with national staff to share skills needed in this context.

Some hopeful news from . ❤️‍🩹

A long-term patient with UK-Med, Saif, became paraplegic after suffering a blast injury.

Rehabilitation at our field hospital meant his wounds could be surgically cleaned and he could undergo consistent physiotherapy.

After 3 months, Saif is now transferring to a specialist rehab facility in Gaza City to continue his treatment.

Many patients in Gaza don’t get this opportunity, the demand for rehab is extremely high.

Our thoughts are with Saif and his family on their journey to recovery.

Stay with Gaza.

Ready for anything?

We are.

Ensuring our teams are prepared is vital.

That’s why UK-Med's simulation exercises (SIMEX) are so important.

Strengthening the preparedness of the UK Emergency Medical Team (UK EMT) means we can respond at a moment’s notice.

Whenever requested. Wherever needed.

Congratulations to participants that joined us on the day and thank you to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office for supporting this initiative.

How do we prepare to respond?

Over the last 4 days, UK-Med held one of our expert-led deployment courses.

2️⃣7️⃣ participants took part in theory and simulation sessions to gain insight into what it takes to deploy with UK-Med.

From operations to safeguarding to WASH, this training provides an in-depth understanding of how UK-Med responds to crises around the world and equips our register members with the skills to work together and support local health systems. 🤝

Well done to all who joined us for the course, and a big thank you to our brilliant volunteer actors and The Fold for accommodating our stay and bringing this training to life. 💙
