‘Planning a big project at your church? A step-by-step guide to successfully developing a ministry, mission, or building project’ took place on Saturday 18th July. It was a wonderful day with a total of 65 people registered (43 via Eventbrite and 21 via Teams), and it was a delight to welcome 39 people to St John’s House in Bury. We are thankful that our speakers, Revd Paul Monk, Vicar of Ashton under Lyne; Heather Ford, Church Support Manager at Ecclesiastical Insurance UK; Amanda Layne, DAC Secretary; and Paul Bailey, Diocesan Giving Advisor (both Manchester diocese), were able to share their expertise and knowledge with the attendees.
This brand-new training event was received enthusiastically by the attendees. “Perfect, thank you, very much appreciated!” “I thought the whole thing was really good. Obviously, a lot of thought and preparation has gone into it; it was really relevant and applicable.” “We came expecting more about event-planning/mission than about building maintenance and insurance, thinking about fundraising… but we got so much more. What crystallised it for me were points such as those regarding teamwork and the audit and the use of the (evolving/ adapted) Mission Statement. [A colleague] has already planned a sermon linked to this.”
