Yesterday was a very special day for our team. 💛

We had our entire Academy and Therapy team together in one place — something that doesn’t happen very often! It’s wonderful to see how much we have grown. It was such a lovely opportunity to come together and make sure we are all ready for the year ahead.

Our day was filled with learning and preparing, from our Academy curriculum for the next year, to trauma-informed and sensory training, horse welfare and handling.

Most importantly, we spent the day making sure that everything we do continues to put our children, their wellbeing and their individual needs at the heart of everything.

We are now feeling more ready and excited than ever to welcome our children back next week.

We have so many gorgeous things planned for them, and we honestly cannot wait to see all of our familiar faces again. We’re also so excited to welcome lots of new children who will be joining us for the first time — we can’t wait to get to know them, watch them settle in and begin their own special journey with us.

Here’s to another wonderful year of learning, growing, connecting and having lots of fun along the way.

We are excited to introduce you to Carol - the newest recruit into the Academy Staffing Team!

Carol has over 20 years’ experience working in educational settings, from reception children through to the end of secondary school. Throughout her career, she has supported children and young people with a wide range of needs, including SEMH, neurodivergence, mental health difficulties and complex additional needs.

Carol’s journey into equine-assisted learning began while working with young people in a hospital setting, where she saw first-hand the positive impact that spending time with horses could have on emotional wellbeing. Inspired by this experience, she gained qualifications as an Equine Facilitated Learning Practitioner and went on to develop her own programme of sessions, using her two horses, donkey and sheep to support emotional regulation, build confidence and develop self-belief.

Alongside her equine work, Carol volunteers as a listener for the Samaritans, drawing on her experience and skills in supporting people experiencing mental health difficulties. She also delivers equine-assisted learning sessions at a care farm, working with adults with diverse learning difficulties.

Carol’s love of horses began when she was very young, and she feels incredibly fortunate to have her own horses at home. She enjoys regular riding, including forest hacks, beach rides and sponsored rides, as well as the occasional low-level dressage competition, working towards novice level.

Carol is passionate about the unique relationship that can develop between people and horses. She believes that when relationships are built on trust, patience and mutual respect, they can create powerful opportunities for both people and horses to learn, grow and thrive together.

The horses have noticed… THE BIG CLEAN UP IS ON!

A summer’s worth of fun has certainly left its mark on the farm — mainly in the form of dust, dust and just a little more dust!

So it’s all hands on deck as we sweep, scrub, mop and sparkle our way back to an academy-ready start for the new academic year!

The horses, meanwhile, are supervising from a safe distance… obviously.

With schools heading back after the summer holidays, our Academy team are using this short week to get ready, plan and prepare for the new academic year ahead.

We’ve got a busy week of staff training planned, covering everything from fully securing a trauma-informed approach when working with our young people, to sensory training and using the ISES first principles when handling our horses.

It’s a chance for our team to learn, reflect, refresh our knowledge and make sure we’re ready to welcome everyone back with the very best start to the new year.

And next week… we get to see you!

We’ve missed so many of our familiar faces and are so excited to welcome you back, as well as lots of new faces joining us for the very first time.

Here’s to an amazing 2026/27! We are ready for it!

From summer camp to winter shelter!

Our cattle trailer has many a fun summer as an overnight camp, making plenty of memories for our children under the stars. But as the days get shorter and the weather turns colder, it’s time for its next chapter.

Now it’s being repurposed into a cosy shelter for the sheep, giving them a dry place to escape the wind, rain and winter weather.

One trailer. Two seasons. Plenty of good uses. ♻️🚜

Day 3 of Pony Camp!

What a fantastic day of learning, laughter and pony fun! Our campers enjoyed collecting their ponies, trick training, a body language masterclass, an XC walk ride and plenty of pampering to make our ponies comfy. They also learnt from equine physio and watched a demonstration.

The afternoon was full of talent show practice, ponies turned out, our awards ceremony, and then the day ended with a brilliant summer party and talent show!

So many happy memories, growing confidence and proud moments today.

We now give permission for it to rain. in fact we demand it!
