Thank you for celebrating 35 years of Ukraine’s Independence with us!

Over 150 people came together to celebrate Ukraine through community, music, food and friendship.

Together, we raised an £881 for Macclesfield Ukrainian Aid Collection Point and Bring Kids Back UA. Thank you to everyone who donated, bought raffle tickets and supported the event.

A special thank you to Paul Brearley DL, our amazing volunteers, performers Lastivka and Mirage, and our brilliant face-painting and glitter tattoo team.

Thank you to everyone who made this celebration so special. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Remembering Ukraine’s Fallen Defenders

Today, on the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, we honour those who gave their lives defending their country, its freedom and its people.

Behind every name is a person with a family, friends, dreams and a story. Their courage, dedication and love for Ukraine will remain in our hearts and in the memory of generations to come.

At Macclesfield Ukrainian Aid, we continue to stand with Ukraine and support those who are still defending it.

We remember. We honour. We will never forget.

🇺🇦 300 000+ miles. Missions Macclessfield Ukrainian Aid.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, MUA volunteers have travelled more than 300,000 miles delivering humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

Every mile means another journey, another delivery and another community receiving the support it needs.

From the UK to Ukraine, our volunteers keep moving because every journey matters. Thank you to everyone who drives, donates, packs and supports this mission!

Donetsk — one of Ukraine’s largest cities, temporarily occupied by Russia

Its history has a surprising British connection.
In 1869, Welsh businessman and engineer John Hughes established an ironworks and railway in the area. Around it, Yuzivka developed into an important industrial settlement and eventually became Donetsk.

The area itself had a longer history, with Cossack settlements existing here since the late 18th century.
Today, Donetsk remains a Ukrainian city under Russian occupation, with a history shaped by both Ukrainian heritage and British industrial development 🇺🇦🤝🇬🇧

A big thank you to everyone who has donated candles and candle wax to support Ukraine 🕯️💙

Our Macclesfield Ukrainian Aid volunteers sorted, boxed and weighed the donations before they were delivered by lorry to three different trench candle workshops in Ukraine.

With colder weather ahead, more candle wax is needed to help prepare trench candles for the winter months.

Please keep sending your candle wax donations. Every contribution makes a difference! 🇺🇦

🇺🇦 CAMOUFLAGE NETTING PROJECT

Behind every camouflage net is a huge amount of volunteer work.

From collecting and preparing donated cloth in the UK to packing it for Ukraine, every step brings us closer to the final result.

Together with our friends in Ukraine, we’re turning donated materials into life-saving camouflage nets for Ukrainian soldiers!

UKRAINIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY SUMMER BBQ 🇺🇦

We’re proud to support our friends at Stockport Ukrainian Club as they prepare to celebrate Ukrainian Independence Day and bring the local community together in support of Ukraine.

Join us on Saturday, 22 August 2026 from 2:00 PM for an afternoon of music, food and family activities, while raising funds for Macclesfield Ukrainian Aid and Bring Kids Back Appeal Ukraine.

The event is free to attend, with a collection and raffle on the day. All money raised will be split between the two organisations to support ongoing humanitarian efforts.

The video also takes us back to last year’s Independence Day celebrations, capturing the community spirit that makes this event so special.

🇺🇦 Ukrainian voices in Rugby

More than 80 years ago, around 70 Ukrainians found refuge in Rugby after being forced to leave their homeland during World War II.
Today, Rugby is once again a place of sanctuary for Ukrainian families who have fled Russia’s full-scale invasion.

The Ukrainian community continues to grow through culture, friendship and support. One example is Shchedryk, a talented Ukrainian choir that recently held a fundraising concert at the beautiful 14th-century St Peter’s Church in Wolfhampcote.

The community’s support for Ukraine also extends to humanitarian aid. Macclesfield Ukrainian Aid works closely with Ukrainians connected to the Rugby community, who regularly provide technical and medical aid, as well as support for internally displaced Ukrainians.

A huge thank you to the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain Rugby Branch for bringing people together and keeping Ukrainian culture, community and support for Ukraine at the heart of Rugby! 🇺🇦🇬🇧
