ANNOUCEMENT REGARDING OUR SERVICES.

Shannon has decided she does not wish to restart the “donation point a drop ins”.

We raised £1900 after gofundme fees which has been given to Kate Ellis from One Project Macclesfield to hold onto for now. This is being kept safe until we decide whether there is anyone who wishes to reset up this service.

- We are looking for someone to take over the role of running the baby library. Shannon will support with help and with handing over what’s needed with some volunteers still able to continue to help.

This is a completely unpaid role and needs to be someone macclesfield area.

If anyone wants to have a chat regarding taking over let us know! You’ll have £1900 to start and use as rental or even a storage unit/ shed on your driveway if you want to do that.

This isn’t an easy decision to make but Shannon wishes to move on and do things with her own life now, after voluntarily giving her time for 5 years.

Important announcement

We have temporarily paused the gifting group whilst we discuss as a team whether to move forwards.

Unfortunately an incident occurred today at a play group where a person became aggressive and threatening towards myself (shannon), causing the people running the play group to have to call the police.

This happened in front of a few children including Finley.

My family comes first and this is not the first time this has happened.

I am not being put in a position that may put my child in the middle of an altercation nor am i entertaining that sort of behaviour for a second.

Due to too many incidents we are having a serious discussion regarding what to do with the group and the baby library.

IMPORTANT ANNOUCEMENT

We have decided to take a break from services.
This will be 6 months initially, reevaluated nearer the time.

We have several reasons for this :

- Even this week we have had a number of abusive and nasty comments about decisions on items,
We are going to rewrite and revisit policies and procedures, with clearer rules and guidelines in place.

- We have some families who have become extremely reliant on us and we feel like a “cool down” period is needed.

- The volunteer team is too small to continue to run efficiently so needs to be sorted also.

All the money raised on the go fund me page will be kept safe and logged by another person who runs a similar group for safe keeping.
This will be used to reset us up in the future, hopefully better and with somewhere to be.

We are Macclesfield Children and Baby Library

We have been running as a volunteer ran service in Macclesfield for almost 5 years.

We have ran from Bethel Baptist Church for almost 3 years.
Unfortunately they have voted to remove us from their hall as they want it back for their own purposes.

We currently support families in and around the local area, by providing baby items essentials and necessities from 0-16 years.

We provide -
- Clothing Shoes hats etc
- Prams Strollers
- Moses baskets next to me cribs cots
- Bouncers walkers
- Toys big and small
- Electronics and household
Basically everything a family would need.
We work in a way that we are able to provide these free of charge for those in need, we also do referrals from social services, cheshire east council and the health visitor/ midwife team.

We are the ONLY baby bank in the area.
The closest to us is High Peak Baby Bank in buxton.

We are one of a small amount of baby banks that actually allow ANYONE to enter regardless of funds or referrals. Unfortunately this will NOT be able to continue without a suitable premises.

we support our families with shopping vouchers and items needed via donations, which again will not be able to happen with a referral only service.

We are reaching out to anyone who cares, to ask for some help.
We need a suitable premises or we need Bethel to change their mind. Otherwise this will end and we will no longer be here to help.

Please save the baby library so we can continue to help others.

we are doing a smaller xmas appeal this year supporting 20 or so families we know desperately need the help.

We hope to return to our big public appeal next year.

Hi Everyone.

We would like to kindly remind everyone that we are the ONLY baby bank for a VERY big distance who offer free items to everyone. In fact most baby banks now have gone referral only due to issues with the general public.

We would also like to remind you that items we give out are FREE, we work there for FREE and the church allow us to use the hall for FREE.

If you’re not happy with the item you’re handed then feel free to decline it and leave, there’s plenty of shops in and around macclesfield that can provide the same items we do.

If you’re genuinely in need you won’t be rude or obnoxious about your item and will be happy.

As someone who had an unexpected child myself i know how happy id have been to be given a pram and more for free, instead we had to rely on parents and grandparents for handouts.
The team are becoming very weary from the abuse and lack of respect from some of the general public who are coming in.

A reminder - you’re not entitled to anything we have. The majority of items have been donated and specified to be given to people in need/ financially unable to buy items new. We allow everyone to come in without asking your finances to take clothing toys and more.
If you have a pram to swap brill!

If you come in and say your pram has broken we will assign you something. Unfortunately if it isn’t up to your standards, (unsure how a £300 stroller ISNT though) you’re welcome to not use the service.

Telling me that we are misleading because you thought you could come in and choose whatever you’d like and the one we gave you isn’t good enough just don’t fly im afraid.

Keep abusing it yall gonna lose it.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

We will NOT be doing a christmas appeal 2025.

We have ran one for the last 3/4 years and it’s been massive, getting bigger every time. We don’t have the volunteer team to do it this year nor the time.

We are making this announcement now so that the other groups in Macclesfield have time to co-ordinate taking over/ doing something similar.

This may be something we revise next year but atm it’s not something we can nor want to do.
Several people have come forward and complained about the gifts they received and used this as a negative against the team.

We will set up a way to refer folks who have used us before to access whoever is running the new one if we can.

After some consideration i’ve decided how best to move forward re donations.

The only reason we started taking monetary donations was because some people don’t like taking for free and feel bad doing so.
This was implemented for this reason and we noticed the benefits we could get to help more families.

Now ONE Project Macclesfield- Community Fridge & Surplus Food and Sutton Community Fridge, Freezer & Surplus Food are open pretty much daily we don’t need to support with food anymore.

So we will be having a different charity every month that we keep the bank details on hand for, and ask folks to send a donation to that instead.

We will change it monthly so many different organisations can benefit.

I think this is the best way all round.
