| Have you heard of Sarah’s Law?

Sarah’s Law – also known as the Child S*x Offender Disclosure Scheme (CSODS) – gives parents, carers and guardians the right to ask the police if someone who has contact with their child has a history of s*xual offences.

It was introduced after pa******le Roy Whiting abducted, s*xually assaulted and murdered eight-year-old school girl Sarah Payne. She was taken less than five miles from the s*x offender's home.

If a person poses a risk to a child’s safety, the police can share relevant information to help keep children safe.

It’s free, confidential, and designed to protect children from harm.

So far this year we have had 70 requests for information from us through Sarah's Law.

Suffolk Survivor Pathway is a single access point for multi agency support for victims of s*xual violence. It includes six specialist services that work together to co-ordinate care and support.

Suffolk Police has been told to improve across multiple areas.

Suffolk's Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner, Tim Passmore said: "I know the chief constable will use this inspection to focus attention on those areas that need improvement."

Our Women's Project supports women who have experienced challenging life events such as s*xual violence, domestic abuse or coercive control to take action towards authentic, settled and fulfilling lives by creating a safe, stable and empowering environment. 🌿

During the year-long course, women receive trauma-informed, holistic support designed to build confidence, resilience and independence.

As part of a therapeutic creative practice for the woman’s project they can undertake activities including:
🧵 Textiles & craft
♻️ Furniture upcycling
⚒️ Blacksmithing in our forge
And the items created are often sold in our social enterprises.

Companions also gain valuable work experience through our social enterprises, including:
Barista
Baking
Customer service

🐾 We know pets are family too. That's why we can consider pets and work with Street Vet to provide companions with access to 24/7 veterinary support.

Together, we're helping women move beyond homelessness and towards a future filled with hope, opportunity and confidence. 💚

The new Prime Minister has made ending rough sleeping one of his first priorities.

At Emmaus UK, we welcome this commitment and the opportunity to build on the progress already made to tackle homelessness.

But words must now become action.

We’re calling for:
🏠 More social homes
💰 Long-term investment in supported housing
🤝 A national rollout of Housing First
📋 Swift implementation of the Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act

Together, these changes could make a real difference to people experiencing homelessness.
