18 days with The Ops Con Academy, in partnership with 242 Group in Hayes, west London (UB4). SFJ Awards Level 3 Certificate for Close Protection Operatives, accommodation included for the full course, and every graduate is put forward for paid work with 242 Group and USGC. 12 months of Operator Pro free when you finish.

£1,999, or £1,799 for Ops Con members. Funding available to Operator Pro members. One free place for a veteran and one for a blue light service leaver.

With a strong foundation in military training and operations, and roots in military, police and intelligence services, their operatives put privacy and discretion at the centre of how they work. Every client gets a personalised risk assessment, the team is available 24/7, and the level of cover is shaped around the person, the place and the threat rather than a standard package.

The people delivering it are the people who did the job. The team behind the company comes from the Royal Marines, the RAF, the Royal Military Police and Hampshire Constabulary, and they train their own operatives at their own facility.

PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: Invictus Strategic Solutions

Alongside their first aid and FREC 3 courses, Invictus Strategic Solutions run a travel risk side for organisations sending people into unstable regions and remote terrain.

Their travel risk assessment looks at the political, security, health and environmental risks of a destination, weighs them against the itinerary and the team, sets out check-in schedules and escalation procedures, and finishes with a prioritised list of actions. Journey management planning then covers routes, contingencies and coordination with trusted local contacts.

The work is aligned with the ISO 31030 travel risk management guidelines and with preparing organisations for Martyn's Law. They work with sectors from NGOs and journalism to energy and defence, and can deliver internationally through a global associate network.

PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: UC GLOBAL ENGINEERING

UC Global Engineering are marine and land engineers, and two jobs from their portfolio show the range.

For the hospital ship MV Global Mercy, they fitted new boom cranes. For an EOD detachment in Europe, they carried out a complete restoration of a US bomb disposal boat.

Behind that sits a marine side covering hydraulics and fabrication, and a land side focused on survivability for armoured and tactical vehicles. In their words, "We don't just build; we engineer."

They also run a security and procurement side, with close protection and site security alongside the engineering, and they're always looking for talented engineers.

PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: The Adaptable Human Project

The Adaptable Human Project is run by Sam and Lucie. Sam spent over a decade in the Royal Marines Commandos, and he's also worked in a performance training centre with athletes, sports teams and special forces soldiers.

Lucie runs her own clinical manual therapy practice and brings the physical side, often working with people who carry the physical symptoms of chronic stress. They say it regularly shows up as tension, headaches or injuries that keep coming back.

Their work starts with a diagnostic, which they describe as a snapshot of the team. It looks at how people make decisions under pressure, whether they've got the energy to perform consistently, whether they feel safe to speak up, how the team works together, and whether the job itself is set up in a way that adds stress. From there they agree a plan with you, using training sessions, group coaching and one-to-one sessions.

Open Comms No.1 was a great night.

Thank you to Lt Gen Sir Nick Borton, who shared some of the lessons he has learnt over his many years of leadership during an exemplary military career commanding thousands of troops, and how much of what he was doing every day in the army can be transferred to the commercial world of business. An insightful and witty talk, with plenty for people to take away and implement in their own businesses, or personal life!

Thank you to everyone who came to The Ops Con HQ at Battersea Power Station. Partners, members and new faces, and conversations about everything from leaving service, to the impact of AI on CVs, to what being part of The Ops Con means, plus some exciting ideas for the future.

We can't wait for the next one!

New on the blog: why our partner network matters, and why we don't say yes to everyone.

The industry's swamped. Training providers, companies to work for, some of them excellent and some of them nowhere near it, and from the outside you can't tell which is which. Same slick website, same logo, same promises. So how do you know who to trust?

The second slide shows a wall of logos. Anyone can put one of those up. What's behind ours is the bit that took the time.

Every name on that wall sat down with us first, founder to founder, before the logo went anywhere near the site. Then they signed an agreement to uphold the standard and look after our members. Plenty of companies want in. Not all of them get in.

Not the biggest network but it's the one you can trust.
