Two new, open access research papers were published last week by the Durham Infancy and Sleep Centre (DISC) team's project on slings and baby carriers.

The first highlighting the benefits of keeping baby close and responsive, but the rare risks are serious and greater awareness is needed. https://bmjpaedsopen.bmj.com/content/10/1/e004693

The second highlighting that most parents purchase and start using slings and carriers in early infancy, but do not receive any safety guidance at point of purchase.
https://bmjpaedsopen.bmj.com/content/10/1/e004696

Findings from both suggest a real need for national guidance to raise awareness of safe use, particularly with babies in first few months.

šŸ’œ Celebrating our wonderful Lambeth Volunteers šŸ’œ

This Volunteers Week, we’re saying a huge THANK YOU to the incredible breastfeeding peer supporters who give their time, kindness, and lived experience to support families in our community. 🤱✨

Your compassion strengthens confidence, builds connection, and makes such a difference to local families every single day.

To all of you, thank you for showing up, caring, and supporting families through every feed, question, and milestone. šŸ’
