Culture Club is heading east!

This month we’re off to V&A East and the Storehouse for a day of exploring, discovering and getting our culture fix.

We’ll share all the details, including timings, in the WhatsApp group, so keep an eye out if you’re coming along.

October is here, and we’ve got another busy month ahead! 🍂💜 From bingo and book club to a trip to V&A East, and plenty of opportunities to catch, there’s lots going on.

This Month, we’ve got:
✨ 10 Oct – Culture Club: We’re off to V&A East and the Storehouse. Timings and details will be shared on WhatsApp.
✨ 14 Oct – Monthly Meeting: It’s bingo night! 🎉 Join us at The Wheatsheaf from 7:30pm for an evening of bingo, drinks and good company.
✨ 21 Oct – Craft Club: Bring your latest project or come along and help us make Christmas crafts to support our charity partner, Royal Trinity Hospice, at The Trafalgar Arms from 7:30pm.
✨ 22 Oct – Book Club: This month we’re reading The Body by Stephen King. No pressure to have finished the book – just come along for a chat and a drink at The Trafalgar Arms from 7:30pm. 📚
✨ 27 Oct – Supper Club: We’re heading to Joes Oriental Diner in Balham for dinner and drinks from 7pm. 🍜

Our sub-groups are for members, so if you’d like to join in, don’t forget to sign up! You’re also very welcome to come along to one of our regular meetings as a guest to see what we’re all about.

We headed to The National Archives in Kew to explore the Revolution 250: America’s Independence Story exhibition, which marks the 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

From original documents and maps to correspondence from the period, there was plenty to discover. 🇺🇸

It was a fascinating Sunday, filled with plenty of chatting and of course, cake.

Book club met last week to chat about the Jane Austen book that doesn’t get the headlines, Mansfield Park.
Inspired after watching The Jane Austen Book club, we chose to revisit a classic. Discussions were lively, and after a few books that split us down the middle, the majority rated the book 4 out of 5 ⭐️

Cocktails, anyone? 🍸💜

A little look back at our September meeting, where we joined forces with Andy aka for an evening of cocktail making!

We learnt how to make three very different cocktails: The Hanky Panky, A Room of One’s Own and Yellow Valley — and of course, we samples our creations along the way. 🍸

A big thank you to Andy for showing us the ropes and to everyone who came along 🍹

For September’s Supper Club, we’re heading to Barra10 📍London, Tooting Broadway in Broadway Market 🥩🍷

We’re looking forward to steaks cooked over an open wood-charcoal grill. With chimichurri, empanadas and plenty of delicious sides — it’s exactly what we’re looking for in a Wednesday night dinner!

This month we’re reading Mansfield Park by Jane Austen - the lesser known book that not many of us have read! We’re meeting on Thursday 17 September at 7:30pm at The Trafalgar Arms.

Haven’t finished the book? No problem! There’s no pressure to have read it all – come along for a chat, a drink and some good company.
