Welcome to the official page of 8th Cheam Scout Group. We are a friendly, active, adventurous and enthusiastic Scout Group meeting in Cheam Village, Surrey with a 60-year history. We run a Beaver Colony for young people between the ages of 5¾ and 8 years, a Cub Pack for those aged from 8 to 10½ years and a Scout Troop for those aged 10½ to 14½ years old. All of our sections are open to both boys and girls and to look after them all we have five volunteer leaders and numerous helpers.

This evening the scouts learnt about maps & grid references thank you to NickandSusan Peek for coming along to teach the young scouts with the help of the older ones.

Another fabulous group camp this weekend Walton Firs Activity Centre. Beavers, cubs, scouts & our linked Explorer unit Cheam Village Explorer Scout Unit all joined together to have fun & laughter. Caving & teepee building for the beavers. Crate stacking & leap of faith for cubs. Adventure course & Goliath ropes for the scouts and finally Aeroball & Frisbee golf for the explorers. Wonderful food, outstanding campfire and songs from Mick Paul and all finished with a 16th & 21st birthday celebrations. Thank you for coming to visit NickandSusan Peek & Lynn.

Earlier this year some of the scouts helped to make hedgehog houses
One of those has gone home with Skip and now has a resident !!!

We have kept one at the scouts hut, donated one to Park Farm campsite where we camped this year and the other is being handed to Friends of Cheam Park this week

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the Jack Petchey Foundation evening at Epsom Playhouse. Congratulations to two members of Cheam Village Explorers Unit on receiving your awards.

We're pleased to announce that tickets are now available for the 8th Cheam Quiz Night 2026, helping our Young Leader Joseph fundraise for his place on the World Scout Jamboree next year. There will be a paid licences bar available on the night.
A raffle will be drawn on the evening with a selection of prizes to be won!

Just to inform all that the shop shuts Saturday 18th July and Re-opens on Saturday 5th September when we will have all the new guiding uniforms.

Last session of the term, and we finished our hedgehog houses by giving them a lick of paint, ready for being donated to Park Farm campsite & Friends of Cheam Park
We also tidied around our scout hut having a sweep up of all the debris laying around, and finsihed tidying from our BBQ finishing with chocolate cake 🍰
