We want everyone in our wonderfully diverse community to be able to approach death in the way that suits their values, beliefs and lifestyle.

We're here for the people of Greenwich and Bexley. Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice provides free specialist palliative care and support services for people with terminal illnesses, as well as providing support for their families, friends and professional carers. Our services include a 19 bedded Hospice inpatient facility, Hospice at home care, hospital support, a lymphoedema service, education, complementary therapy and creative arts helping people at the end of life to enjoy a better quality of life.

Sometimes, there really is no place you’d rather be than home. 🧡

For Jason, that mattered more than ever as he neared the end of his life.

His wish was simple. He wanted to be at home, surrounded by familiar things and the people he loved.

With support from Community Hospice, Jason and his partner Zuzana were able to make that happen.

Our carers visited three times a day, providing the care Jason needed while helping him remain himself. From choosing his clothes to putting on his guitar socks, it was the small things that helped protect his dignity and individuality.

And we were there for Zuzana too.

Jason died at home, where he wanted to be.

✨ Lighting up London together

On Saturday evening, hospice supporters came together for the very first Light the Night – a 10km walk through the heart of London.

It was a chance to walk side by side, remember people who have died, share memories and support the hospices that have been there for people and families when they’ve needed them.

Light the Night brought together St Christopher's Hospice Shooting Star Children’s Hospices Princess Alice Hospice St Raphael's Hospice and North London Hospice

We loved seeing 25 people walking in support of Community Hospice among the wider group.

And there were some familiar faces too. Some of our China trekkers joined us for a 10km challenge before heading to China later this month to walk the Great Wall of China, once again raising money for Community Hospice.

Saturday was a test event ahead of the official launch of Light the Night in 2027, so everyone who took part also helped us learn, test and shape what this event could become.

Thank you to everyone who walked, remembered, talked and connected with each other. And thank you to our fellow London hospices for coming together to make it possible. 🧡✨

Hospice care shouldn’t be something we leave to chance. 🧡

This Hospice Care Week, we’re shining a light on why it matters that compassionate, expert hospice care is there when people need it most.

None of us knows when we, or someone we love, might need hospice care. But when that moment comes, people and families across Greenwich and Bexley deserve to know that support is there.

In this video, our Director of Nursing and Quality, Debbie, shares why we can’t afford to leave hospice care to chance.

Because hospice care matters. And making sure it’s there when it’s needed matters too.

Last week Thursday, we welcomed supporters into Community Hospice for one of our hospice tours.

It was an opportunity to see first-hand how your support helps local people and families, hear stories from across our services, and learn more about the care we provide both in the hospice and out in the community.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, and to our wonderful hospice staff and volunteers who helped make the morning so special.

Three days. Three mountains. Could you take them on? 🏔️

In June 2027, you'll take on Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), with experienced mountain guides and support along the way.

You don't need previous mountain experience, but you'll need a good level of fitness and a commitment to training.

And every step you take will help raise vital funds for local patients and families.

🏃‍♀️ A huge well done to our Vitality 10K runners!

On Sunday 27 September, five fantastic runners took on the Vitality 10K for Community Hospice: Jan, Jay, Leanie, Aimiee and Sarah.

Together, they’ve already raised an amazing £1,437.50 to help us provide vital care and support to local patients and families.

There’s a big difference between being cared for and feeling cared for. 🧡

For Omolara, it’s about feeling heard and supported as a person, not just a patient.

After navigating cancer largely on her own, she was referred to Community Hospice for support with her pain and changing health.

Here, she found people who knew her name. People she could call when she was worried. People who listened to what mattered to her and saw the person beyond her illness.

“They treated me as a person, not just a patient.”

That feeling of being known, heard and supported is something we want every person who needs our care to experience.

But we can’t do it alone.
