Another beautiful harvest from our food garden, with fresh leafy vegetables ready to be used in our kitchen.

The hard work of the women caring for the garden continues to bear fruit, helping us provide fresh and nutritious food for our children while strengthening food security within the community.

From 29 September to 2 October, young people came together for a week focused on health, learning and fun.

The programme was designed to equip the youth with practical knowledge about their wellbeing, while creating a safe space for discussion, participation and engagement. Different speakers and facilitators shared valuable information, helping young people learn more about making healthy choices and looking after themselves.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making Youth Week informative, interactive and enjoyable!

The Department of Justice, together with Mogale City Municipality, hosted an important session on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) at our community.

Despite the cold weather, women came out in numbers to receive valuable information and support. Different speakers addressed a range of important topics, empowering women with knowledge and information to help them understand their rights, recognise the different forms of gender-based violence, and take steps towards safer communities.

Knowledge is power, and empowered women help build stronger communities.

Our beetroot harvest at Hope Park is a wonderful reminder of what we can grow together.

We grow vegetables to help provide fresh, nutritious food for the children in our kitchen on a daily basis. Every harvest contributes to nourishing our children and supporting our community.

From planting the seeds to harvesting the crops, we are proud to see our garden making a difference.

Women in our community are continuing with their classes, learning valuable skills that can help them become more self-sufficient and create opportunities to start their own small businesses in the future.

We are proud to see them investing in themselves, gaining new skills, and working towards building a brighter future for themselves and their families.

Following Hope Park’s fourth-place finish in the Food Garden Competition, we were given the opportunity to take part in a seven-month training programme led by Food & Trees for Africa.

The training focuses on strengthening our knowledge and skills around food gardening, and it also benefits women in the community who have their own home gardens.

We are grateful for the opportunity to continue learning, growing, and sharing knowledge that can make a lasting difference in our community.

Breastfeeding Week began on 3 August, and we were pleased to welcome the Department of Health, who spent time with mothers in our community, providing valuable information on the importance of breastfeeding and the benefits it provides to babies and young children.

As part of the visit, Road to Health booklets were also checked to ensure that the children’s immunisations are up to date.
