A good win for Llandudno in the Gwynedd Seniors League this afternoon. The nice people from Benllech Dynamos were accompanied by lucky team mascot Dynamo Dai the red dragon. But it was not their day as Llandudno won 4-3 in games and 127-94 on aggregate to win the match 6-3 and consolidate our fourth place position in the league.

Our Club Mascot, Penny the Chihuahua has been immortalised by our club artistic talent June Phipps, as a tribute to her previous owner and top LOBC bowler Malcolm Bentley.

For those who don’t know the story, in a tragic accident over two years ago, Malcolm was paralysed and hospitalised for many months, before moving into a local nursing home.

Penny was fostered by club members Wendy & Mark, and Penny continued to regularly visit Malcolm and other residents in the Wimsly Care Home. Up to last year Malcolm still occasionally visited LOBC to watch matches. Sadly, last month Malcolm passed away in Llandudno.

Now Penny’s mini-statuette in the LOBC gardens will forever remind us of Malcolm.

RIP Malcolm John Bentley, 1943 - 2026.

Our North Wales Coast League team had a successful trip over to the Vardre Bowling Club in Deganwy, yesterday afternoon. We secured a good 8-4 away match victory on what is always a challenging green to play. We took the games 7-3, but the aggregate score was tied 174-174 so the two bonus points were shared.
