On 17th March six local Rotary Clubs worked together to stage the annual Rotary Technology Tournament 2026. Hosted at the Upper Batley High School a number of competing secondary schools from Kirklees and Wakefield locations, in three ages groups were set a written task to design and construct a functional model to complete at set of tasks. The students undertook a challenge and the winners were: Foundation Group - Whitcliffe Mount School in Cleckheaton, Intermediate Group -Woodkirk Academy in Tingley, Advanced Group -Woodkirk Academy. The winners all received a trophy.

This was an excellent example of what can be achieved by the six Rotary Clubs working together. The six clubs were:
The Rotary Club of Birstall Luddites;
The Rotary Club of Cleckheaton;
Horbury and Ossett Phoenix Rotary;
The Rotary Club of Mirfield
The New Generation E-Rotary Club [online]; and
The Rotary Club of Ossett

Collectively these Rotary Clubs are known as the Inner Nine group of six Rotary Clubs.

The Rotary Club would be interested in any local business willing to sponsor the Rotary Technology Tournament 2027 which will be held in March next year.

The Rotary Club of Mirfield has launched it's Christmas Toy Appeal for 2024. Last year with our partners at St Aidan's Church we gave 180 new toys to children who would have had very little at all for Christmas. All toys donated will go to the Salvation Army in and to the Vincent De Paul Society centre in Burmantofts. Both these organisations have a good background and know many needy families that need support. We are collecting from now until the end of November.
If you would like to donate any new toys to our appeal please contact me on [email protected]
