This spotlight is on Enterprise North West 🎉

Enterprise North West continues to support enterprise development, community regeneration and social innovation across the North West region through a range of collaborative and forward thinking initiatives.

In 2026, a major highlight was the launch of The PrintWorks, a new business incubator designed to support emerging businesses and entrepreneurs. The organisation also led the launch of the North West Community Wealth Building Partnership Prospectus, marking the beginning of a Community Wealth Building pilot in the North West.

Another significant achievement was the completion of the first ever corporate lending agreement in the North West between Enterprise North West, North West Business Complex and Waterside Credit Union, representing an important step for community finance and regional development.

Enterprise North West and LEDCOM also received recognition at the SENI 2025 Social Enterprise Awards, winning a Community Wealth Building award for their partnership work. In addition, the organisation launched the IgniteED student enterprise programme in partnership with North West Regional College, helping to encourage enterprise within education.

Looking ahead to the rest of 2026, Enterprise North West will continue developing its capital portfolio through the lens of Community Wealth Building to support enterprise initiatives. The organisation will also continue working with local enterprise development partners across the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, while progressing long term plans for the Social Economy and Innovation Village at its current site.

This spotlight is on Workspace Enterprises 🎉

Workspace is celebrating 40 years of supporting businesses, communities and economic development, marking four decades of enterprise-led regeneration that has helped transform the social and economic landscape of Draperstown and the wider Ballinascreen area.

Established in 1985, when 170 local people came together to purchase a former shirt factory and convert it into business units, Workspace was created in response to significant economic challenges facing the area. Since then, the award-winning social enterprise has become one of Northern Ireland’s most successful examples of community-led economic development.

In 2025, the organisation marked its 40th anniversary with the launch of Born Out of Necessity, a publication documenting Workspace’s journey, achievements and impact over the past four decades. Throughout its history, Workspace has supported hundreds of businesses to start and grow, delivered training and skills programmes, invested in community infrastructure and created opportunities that have helped retain talent and attract investment into the area.

Today, Workspace continues to make a significant impact through a wide range of enterprise, employment and community initiatives. During its most recent reporting period, the organisation mentored 129 entrepreneurs, helped 975 households move out of fuel poverty, distributed £40,000 in grants to community groups and supported 432 people into employment. Independent analysis found that every £1 invested in Workspace generated £4.09 in social and economic value.

Looking ahead to 2026, Workspace is focused on continued innovation and development, including plans to launch a new Digital Enterprise Hub. The initiative will provide modern facilities, digital resources and enhanced support services designed to meet the evolving needs of entrepreneurs, businesses and communities in an increasingly digital economy.

This spotlight is on CIDO Innovation Centre 🎉

In 2025, CIDO proudly celebrated 40 years of impact, having been established in 1985 with a mission to drive wealth creation, entrepreneurship and employment across the Craigavon area. This milestone reflects four decades of sustained support for start ups and small businesses, delivered under the guidance of a dedicated voluntary board.

Throughout the year, CIDO successfully delivered the Go Succeed programme, offering tailored mentoring, training and guidance to support both business start up and growth. Alongside this, the team worked closely with individuals to secure start up loans, enabling new business creation and contributing to local economic development.

CIDO also achieved full occupancy across its sites in Carn and Lurgan, as well as the CIDO Innovation Centre. Demand for virtual office services continued to grow, alongside expanded conference and hot desking facilities, further strengthening CIDO’s position as a hub for flexible working and business support. In addition, planning permission was secured for the development of new light industrial units, adding 6,000 sq. ft. of high demand space and addressing a critical shortage in the area.

Looking ahead to 2026, CIDO is keen to see the development of programmes that support clients transitioning from initial engagement through to fully established businesses, ensuring continuous support and helping to prevent businesses from being left in limbo as they progress on their entrepreneurial journey.
