Working Party Fifth October Task,
Thursday 29th October 09:30

This week’s Task is back on the path between the drain and the Pix, where you were last week, this time doing general path maintenance, clearing wayward trees, branches and brash.

Meet as usual at the Container at 09:30, to walk with the truck.

Please don’t forget your protective gear, helmet, glasses, sturdy footwear, and double check you’ve got a decent pair of gloves.

Working Party Third October Task,
Thursday 15th October 09:30

This week, we shall be starting another scallop, between the Pix and the Drain.

Walking down the Cycle Path, take the Back Path, cross the Norton Stream Bridge, then take the next path on the left, on the south bank of the drain. Then walk about two-thirds of the way towards Cowslip Hill, OR….

……. meet as usual at the Container at 09:30, to walk with the truck.

Working Party Second October Task,
Thursday 8th October 09:30

This week, we shall be carrying on where we left off last week, working along the East -West Ride. Will we have seventeen volunteers this week!

The group should all meet as usual at the Container at 09:30, to walk with the truck.

Working Party First October Task,
Thursday 1st October 09:30

We are starting to create the first of several scallops along the East-West Ride, starting from the tributary bridge, where the path goes off to the right past our pond.

The group should all meet as usual at the Container at 09:30, to walk with the truck.

Working Party Fourth September Task,
Thursday 24th September 09:30

This week, we shall be continuing the last two week's Tasks, again splitting into two groups.

The main group will again be in Icknield Wood, moving further into the wood past the Large Marsh, and past the area tackled last week, round one of our Owl boxes. If in doubt, go to where we were last week, and you should hear the sound of happy volunteers, continuing last week's work tidying the woodland floor by creating habitat piles on large fallen branches.

This group should meet as usual at the Container at 09:30, to walk with the truck.

The construction gang should again go straight to the Cowslip Hill Entrance at 09:30, to continue work on a second fence on the opposite side of Cowslip Hill, and should take their own refreshments.

Thursday, 10th September 09:30

This week, we shall be continuing the work started last week, again splitting into two groups.

The main group will be carrying on with the Task around the East-West Ride area, clearing, and consolidating the barrier across the entrance to, and round the Large Marsh. We shall also be strimming and path clearing in the area, as needed.

This group should meet at the Container at 09:30, to walk with the truck.

The construction gang should go straight to the Cowslip Hill Entrance at 09:30, to continue the solid start made last week by just two brave souls. Hopefully this week they will be joined by several others to continue the replacement of the Cowslip Hill Entrance fence. They should take their own refreshments.

Working Party First September Task,
Thursday 3rd September, 09:30

Last Thursday, after one torrential downpour we started on our Task in drizzle, before being defeated by a second torrential downpour. There were twelve attendees, despite the weather.

Next week, weather-permitting, we shall be splitting into two groups.

The first group will be completing the Tasks started last Thursday, clearing low hanging trees from the Path alongside the Ditch, and consolidating the Barrier across the entrance to, and round the Large Marsh. The Kellies will be back in use to provide break time refreshments. We shall also be strimming and path clearing in the area, as needed.

This group should meet at the Container at 09:30, to walk with the truck.

The materials for the second phase of the Cowslip Hill Entrance fencing will be delivered on Wednesday, so the heavy gang (you know who you are) should go straight to Cowslip Hill, as before, to carry on with their sterling work, remembering to take refreshments.

Working Party Fourth August Task,
Thursday 27th August 09:30

This week, we shall be working on both sides of the East-West Ride; (i) on the tributary path near the pond, cutting back brambles, and sorting trees which have fallen across footpaths, and (ii) maintaining the Large Marsh dead hedge.

We shall also be strimming and path clearing in the area as needed.

Meet at the Container at 09:30, to walk with the truck.
