Lady McAdden Breast Cancer We provide awareness, advice and education and are the only charity in the UK to offer Breast Awareness sessions on a one to one basis with a nurse.

We are a charity that offers services for the early detection of breast cancer via breast awareness, advice, support and education
The only charity in the UK to offer 1 to 1 sessions with a nurse - remotely or face to face. The Lady McAdden Breast Screening Trust was opened in 1976 and started offering services for the early detection of breast cancer prior to the NHS screening program which started in 1988. With 55,000 women in UK being diagnosed annually with Breast Cancer each year (1 in 7 women will get Breast Cancer in their lifetime), our mission (as always) is to support the early diagnosis of Breast Cancer. Our principles are based on the NHS 5 point plan for being Breast Aware:
1 know what's normal for you
2 look at your breasts and feel them
3 know what changes to look for
4 report any changes to a GP without delay
5 attend routine screening if you are eligible to

Breast Awareness appointments are available to all aged 18+ either remotely (video/telephone) or face to face at our premises or in community venues - these can be booked via our website www.ladymcadden.org or by calling 01702 343288. We also provide support when you have a concern and for Breast Pain (where this is the only symptom) we run specialist clinics. Lady McAdden is not funded by the NHS and is totally reliant on public donations and fundraising. Our fundraising includes our shop at Tilbury - which has its own page - Lady McAdden Tilbury Shop.

Our supporters took fundraising to new heights, strapped to the wing of a classic biplane above Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent.

The Lady McAdden Wing Walk is no small ask. Every participant faced a personal challenge to raise vital funds for people affected by breast cancer.

An awe-inspiring £30,000 (net profit) was raised. We still can't believe how they did it - physically and mentally!

Special thanks to:

Chrissy and Julie at Atlantic Pacific, Tarnya, Mandy, Debbie, Ravern, Vikash and Kunal at Eagle Cargo and Leon at Millenium Logistics 🙏

And to everyone who cheered, sponsored and donated - you are the best.

Here's to next year's event WITH acrobatics and loop-the-loops 🤸‍♀️🤸🏿‍♀️🤸🏽‍♂️

You’re helping us build the next 50 years ✈️

Breast cancer isn't just something that happens later in life.

Every year in the UK, around 5,000 women aged 45 or under are diagnosed with breast cancer. It's less common at a younger age, but it does happen, and knowing your body is your best first step.

👀 Check. Feel. Look. Know 👀

Look out for skin dimpling, ni**le changes, rashes or redness, swelling or pain in your armpit, and any changes to the shape or feel of your breasts or chest.

📅 Tip: pick a regular day, like the first shower of the month, to check yourself.
Avoid checking everyday, as this won't give you a true reflection of any changes.

If something doesn't feel right, contact your GP, whatever your age.

This week BBC News shared the stories of three young women from right here in Essex, from Brentwood and Chelmsford, who were diagnosed with breast cancer in their 20s. 📰

One was a university dancer who mistook a rash for irritation from her sports bras. Another was told her lump was probably just a cyst. All three say trusting their instincts made the difference.

💗 Quiz Delight💗

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to Bev's Quiz Night at The Boundary on Friday 🧠

The tables were packed, the competition was fierce, and the raffle was a big hit 🎟️ All for a brilliant cause: Lady McAdden 50 for 50 🎀

🙌 A special shout-out to Bev and Brian who ran the event all evening with big smiles.

💰 Together you raised £1,150 which goes straight to supporting people before, during and after breast cancer.

Bev is very dear to us at Lady McAdden - we love spending time with her and she's a real asset to the charity. When asked why she gets involved she said:

"The feeling of helping is everything" 💗

Bev is a real ray of sunshine and our days are brighter with her in them.

Men get breast cancer too 💙

Most men don’t know it’s possible, so they brush off the signs and wait too long to see a doctor. That delay means men are often diagnosed later, when treatment is harder.

Know what to look for:

🔹 A lump or swelling in the chest, often painless
🔹 A ni**le that turns inwards
🔹 Discharge from the ni**le
🔹 A rash, crusting or sore skin around the ni**le
🔹 A lump or swelling in the armpit

Noticed a change? Don’t wait and don’t feel awkward. Talking about it could save your life. Get support from Men's VMU https://www.themensvmu.org/ and we're here to help too.

Please share this. You could be passing it to someone who needs to see it. 💪

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at our Business Breakfast this morning at our Sanctuary.

The room was full of local businesses coming together over coffee and croissants to support Lady McAdden.

No boring 60 second pitches - just an intro followed by a random engaging question that sparked natural conversations and laughter.

Thank you to Paul Robinson Solicitors LLP for sharing why you kindly took the title of Headline Sponsor with us this year. Your contribution of money, time and energy is priceless.
