SPAN - Supporting People Across Nations SPAN is a Christian charity based in Leamington Spa. Founded in 1973 as part of St Peter’s Catholic Church in Leamington Spa. Everyone is welcome.

It raises funds to help causes both locally and internationally, providing support, dignity and hope to people across nations Still located in Leamington Spa it is registered with the Charity Commission (Reg no. 1040252)

Over the course of a year SPAN aims to distribute donated funds on an approximately 50/50 basis locally and overseas. Locally SPAN works with organisations to provide assistance

to disadvantaged children and families (often via requests from the local authority Social Services team), the homeless and rehabilitation programs for people suffering with addiction. Internationally SPAN works with charities focussing on poverty, feeding programs, health and sanitation in many areas of the world including Africa, Philippines, Latin America and the Middle East. SPAN meets every second Monday of the month to discuss received appeals and how to disburse the donated funds for that month. If you would like join the open meetings please contact our Secretary, Paul Hayden for details. If you are able to donate you can do so directly via our Secretary or by using the Just Giving page. SPAN holds a couple of events during the year (including a Quiz night) and these are publicised through Facebook and in the churches. They are a fun evening and everyone is welcome to join in with us.

💙🌍SPAN Supporting Children in Jordan

SPAN is delighted to have recently supported a charity based in As-Salt, Jordan, working with deaf and deaf-blind children.

The Holy Land Institute for the Deaf and Deafblind provides education and specialist support to children of all backgrounds.

The Deaf and Deafblind School is the only one of it’s kind in the Middle East, giving deaf and deaf-blind children the opportunity to learn, communicate and gain skills for everyday life.

We’re proud to support this wonderful work through the Friends of the Holy Land Institute for the Deaf and Deafblind. Every child deserves the chance to learn, grow and thrive 💙

💧Making a Difference in Myanmar💙

This month SPAN responded to an appeal from a charity working in Myanmar by helping to fund a new borehole.💧

Around 10 million people in Myanmar still lack access to safe, clean water.💦

Ongoing conflict⚠️, displacement, poverty💔and natural disasters🌪️continue to make daily life incredibly difficult, especially in rural communities.

Access to clean water💦 doesn’t just save lives - it improves health, restores dignity and brings hope for a better future.

A Letter of Heartfelt Appreciation ❤️

SPAN recently received a letter of thanks from St Francis Hospital, Nyenga, a charity which we have supported for many years.

In response to our recent donation they wrote “Our heartfelt thanks for your recent donation”.

“Your generosity will go towards improving the livelihoods of lepers in our care”

“It will go a long way towards restoring dignity, hope and an improved quality of life for our vulnerable patients “.

🌍Frank’s Legacy Continues to Make a Difference 💚

Following on from our recent post, we share another example of how Frank’s Legacy continues to make a real difference.

SPAN recently received a thank you from one of the beneficiaries of the legacy, a small charity based in Bristol, working in Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world.

SPAN has been able to pass on a portion of Frank’s gift which has has helped the charity fund a program for smallholder farmers to improve their household food security and increase their incomes creating lasting opportunities for families and communities.

This shows how one person’s generosity continues to have such a positive and ongoing impact on lives.

💙A Gift that keeps Changing Lives💙

At SPAN, we recently received a heartfelt message of thanks from one of the charities that we support in Uganda.

“THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATION. Now , young women who have had to leave school because of poverty, pregnancy or other difficult circumstances are being given a second chance through vocational training”

They are learning valuable skills such as baking, hairdressing and dressmaking. This helps them become financially independent while building confidence and hope for the future.

ONE YOUNG WOMAN had to leave school because she became pregnant. Through the program she trained as a seamstress and now earns enough money to support her daughter, pay her school fees, and even help fund her younger sister’s education.

A wonderful example of how one opportunity can change not just one life but an entire family's future.

THIS DONATION was made possible through the KINDNESS and GENEROSITY of a much valued supporter, Frank, who remembered SPAN in his legacy. His thoughtful gift continues to transform lives and create brighter futures for people he never met.

💙 Happy Fathers Day from SPAN 💙

Today, we celebrate all those who play a fatherly role in the lives of others : dad’s, stepdads, granddads, foster and adoptive fathers , mentors, carers and father figures.

We also hold in our thoughts those who find Father’s Day difficult whether through loss, distance, or personal circumstances.

Thank you to everyone who offers love, guidance, encouragement and support . Your positive influence helps strengthen families, communities and lives.
