Evelyn's Gift Little Acts of Kindness
Registered Charity 1165015
©2015 Evelyn's Gift We also supply wash bags for victims of trafficking and abuse.

Evelyn’s Gift was formed in 2014 to do something positive in memory Evelyn Mary Smith, who passed away suddenly in September 2013, aged just seven. The aims of the charity are two fold: to provide little acts of kindness to people in need and to train as many people as possible in CPR and life-support skills. LITTLE ACTS OF KINDNESS
The idea behind the ‘little acts of kindness’ is to do thoughtful

and kind things that can make a big difference to people’s lives but often lack funding. The charity’s ‘little acts of kindness’ include work with Myton Hospices, St Michael’s Hospital, local schools, youth groups, social services and night shelters. We support families in poverty by providing essential items such as school shoes and uniform. We provide essential toiletries and underwear for rough sleepers and vulnerably housed people. The charity produces packs of resources to support bereaved children and their families. The packs contain fiction and non-fiction books, as well as information about organisations that can provide further support. We deliver the packs through local primary schools but can lend packs to individual families upon request. Working with local funeral services, we fund silver fingerprint jewellery when a child dies or when a child has a significant bereavement. The range of little acts of kindness that we carry out continues to grow and we try to respond to any crisis situation caused by poverty, homelessness, illness or bereavement. CPR AND LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING
In conjunction with Warwick District Community First Responders and Waterside Medical Centre in Leamington Spa, the charity began training local people in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AED). We continue to work with our partners Warwickshire Hearts and to date have trained approximately 9000 people in CPR and the use of an AED. Our aim is to improve Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) survival in Warwick District and we offer free training to groups of people either on request at your own venue or in regular open events. You can book either of these through warwickshirehearts.org.

Between backpacks for children being taken into care, bags for children moving around in foster care and home boxes for care leavers going to university, we have been busy. 💜

There is still a lot to do because the university home boxes are absolutely packed with kitchen items, cleaning materials and towels and we will need to make more boxes up when we know the numbers. We expect about ten young people to need them for the next big step in their lives . We will also be giving them a student cookery book and food basics to help them to cook fresh meals.

Working with WCC Children's Services, we hope to provide some volunteering opportunities for young people to help us complete these projects.

We are working together with Jessica's Promise to continue to bring some positivity to the world, as a legacy for Jessica and Evelyn. Their lives continue to have an impact on the lives of others, and have brought Sarah, me and Kyla together.

We hope that lots of our followers can join us in October for a really fun evening 💜💙

We love working with other charities, but is a special one! Helen, Evelyns mum was so wonderful when Jessica passed away. Helen told us about a bereavement group she supports.

We met the therapist Kyla on our first session she taught us to wake up and how to breathe each day.

I'm honoured to be working alongside these two wonderful women, I now call friends Helen and Kyla. We are planning a fun, fundraising event so save the date.

Melissa from Children's Services met with me today so that we can start planning and shopping for our university starter packs for care leavers. We are also working together to find out what more we can do to help them achieve their goals.
Each year, we put together boxes of cleaning products, kitchen equipment, bathroom and toiletry items, including crockery, cutlery, pans and towels. We provide a student cookery book and plenty of store cupboard essentials so that they can have a go at making healthy meals on a tight budget. 💜

Physiotherapist, Georgina, collected a donation of trainers on her day off to deliver to Leamington Rehabilitation Hospital where she works.
She told us that this will make a huge difference to patients who would otherwise have to wear slippers or unsuitable footwear for their physio treatments.
We are grateful to Georgina for identifying this need and for working with us to deliver our acts of kindness in Evelyn's memory.

Thank you, too, to the kind person that donated to Evelyn's Gift when I was at the checkout, after I had explained what I was doing with so many shoes. 💜

We continue to provide bereavement support packs to schools, and this week we have delivered and posted a further 4 packs for schools in Warwick and Coventry. We are now busy reordering books to make up more packs urgently.

We are also working on projects with Melissa at WCC Children's Services, including stocking up on bags and contents for children being taken into care, or being moved around within the care system. A simple gift of a bag can make all the difference to how children feel and we add Worry Monsters and other items for those that need them. We are waiting for delivery of backpacks for younger children and toddlers. This project has been possible because of the grant we received from the The Morrisons Foundation 💜

Please excuse the selfie, I am concentrating 😂🤣

We fund silver jewellery with a child's finger, hand or foot print for grieving parents, something that can mean the world and show compassion when the most unimaginable thing has happened.

I wear Evelyn's print every day because I find it comforting, and that's why I wanted to offer other parents these precious gifts as part of Evelyn's legacy.

Many of the pieces we provide are for families in the care of a children's hospice or hospital, and we often receive confidential feedback from parents who tell us just how much this means to them.

We cannot continue to provide these without the generosity of our supporters.

If you want to fundraise for us, the platform we use is Wonderful.org because they don't charge any commission, unlike other sites, so apart from card charges, every penny plus gift aid goes to fund our work 💜
