This evening our amazing young people from our Fylde Youth Council group attended a full cabinet meeting at County Hall in Preston.

They updated other young people from across Lancashire and the elected members about the hard work in our community that they are doing. Especially our work looking at violence against women and girls.

Great to see two of our members (one our Member of Youth Parliament) volunteering to sign young people in and deliver a debating activity. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ

This week Fylde Youth Council and our Chilies Youth Group have been exploring the issue of violence against women and girls, looking at how, as a community, we can help prevent and reduce it.

Our young people have been examining the causes and learning about the impact and realities surrounding the issue.

Through youth work sessions, we are helping to educate and inform them, encouraging discussion and empowering them to positively look at how they can influence their peer groups and their community.

Yesterday afternoon at St Anneโ€™s Family Hub and Youth Centre our Targeted Youth Support team started a new session, a Homework Club for all young people to have a save space to come study.

The session allows young people to have a quiet space, with practical support from our youth work team to revise for their GCSEโ€™s , research for college, complete coursework, and do their homework.

The sessions will run throughout the GCSE timetable, every Thursday 5-6.30 at our Sydney Street centre.

Last night at our Chillies ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ Youth group in St Anneโ€™s we celebrated National Drawing Day a few days early, where our brilliant young people had a creative evening.

They were taught the discipline of drawing through Still Life. Then how drawing can be fun and good for mental health and wellbeing, with a team building creative activity.

A fun and creative session.

โฑ๏ธ It's almost time for our care leavers sponsored run, Miles for Memories, this Saturday 18 April to help raise funds for activities to help them stay connected with each other. Have you seen their inspirational video yet? Hear their stories of what it's like to manage independently at such a young age, both financially and emotionally. They are asking for small contributions to create memories such as cinema trips that build friendships, day outings that broaden their world, Christmas meals that ensure no one is alone, and residential adventures that grow confidence.

Please give what you can on their go fund me page - https://www.gofundme.com/f/lancashire-care-leavers-on-the-move-miles-for-memories?attribution_id=sl:a06f320e-d095-41c4-b8d9-4e0568011956&lang=en_GB&ts=1773225356&utm_campaign=fp_sharesheet&utm_content=amp20_t2&utm_medium=customer&utm_source=qr_code
