Our Timebank is built on a simple but powerful idea: everyone has something valuable to offer. The more we all contribute, the stronger, more active, and more rewarding our Timebank becomes for everyone.

We now have over 80 members including 18 organisations. As our membership grows, so does the amount of work needed behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. This is your Timebank, and we'd love more members to get involved in helping make it a success.

There are lots of ways you can help, whether you have an hour a month or a few hours a week. No special experience is needed for many of these roles, and support and guidance will be provided.

Membership & Exchanges

Help welcome new members and keep exchanges running smoothly by:

Confirming new members on TOL2 and allocating their 3 free hours
Inviting new members to welcome meetings
Adding members to mailing lists and induction records
Recording exchanges and crediting/debiting hours
ting our weekly library drop-in session to welcome and guide new members
Publicity & Marketing

Help spread the word and grow our community:

Attending volunteering and community events
Ensuring posters are displayed locally and finding new locations
Designing flyers, leaflets and promotional materials
Helping produce our weekly member email
Exploring ways local businesses could support the Timebank
Creating opportunities to engage with the wider community
Administration

Help keep members connected and supported:

Checking in with members, especially those who have become inactive
Carrying out risk assessments
Obtaining references for new members
Responding to general enquiries
Identifying skills shortages and finding ways to fill them
Matching members who could help one another
Looking for opportunities to bring in new skills, groups and organisations
Events & Social Activities

Help create opportunities for members to connect:

Organising coffee mornings, socials and special events
Arranging guest speakers
Acting as a meet-and-greet volunteer at events
Joining an events group to plan activities
Helping establish interest groups such as craft, food or hobby groups
Governance & Committee Support

Help shape the future of the Timebank:

Exploring the formation of a managing committee
Developing terms of reference
Organising meetings
Preparing agendas and paperwork
Taking and circulating meeting minutes
Managing committee contact information
Every hour you contribute helps strengthen the Timebank and creates more opportunities for everyone. Whether you enjoy organising, meeting people, administration, publicity, event planning, or simply lending a hand where needed, there is a role for you.

If any of these opportunities interest you, please click on the link. Even if you can only offer a small amount of time, it all makes a difference.

One of the greatest gifts you can give is your time. Have you considered joining Ryde time bank? You give an hour of your time in the town for an hour of someone else’s time. See what is going on currently and then why not get in touch for more information? The contact details are at the end of this post.

On the list of time bank requests this week is
1) A member needs a hand clearing out and sorting her garage .The goal is to get everything organized and placed on the lawn, ready for collection. No special skills required—just willing hands and a bit of energy. An hour or two will make all the difference. What's involved:

Sorting items into keep, donate, and discard piles
Moving boxes and furniture onto the lawn
General tidying and organizing

2) 🎭 Costume Store Room Tidy — Flexible Hours

New Carnival Company needs help sorting their costume store room — making sure pieces are in the right boxes and kept safe from damage. Could be a regular hour or two a week, or a one-off visit. Any amount of time is genuinely helpful.

We have a couple of members who have expressed an interest in this but the more the merrier!

3) 🎉 IW Mardi Gras — Saturday 4th July — Save the Date

IW Mardi Gras organised by The New Carnival Company needs stewards, spotters to walk alongside large costume wearers, and people to shake buckets or run surveys. Join from 3–5pm for the main event, or from 11am for the Mini Mardi Gras at Simeon Street Rec. Minimum 2 hours — maximum fun.

4) 🏠 Curtain Track Installation — Central Ryde

A member in central Ryde still needs someone to install a curtain track and hang some curtains. A job that would make a big difference to someone's home.

5) 📚 Local History Book Care — Library — Ongoing

The library is looking for someone with an interest in local history and a sharp eye for detail to tidy up and make minor repairs to their books. Could be one session or dipped in and out of whenever time allows.

What members are offering

🧶 Handmade crochet cat toys — with or without catnip. Strong, safe & shelter-cat approved. One toy = one hour.

📷 Photography help — analogue & digital, including old photo restoration. Also guitar tuition and event space.

🎨 Creative skills — learn to crochet, make cards, start a scrapbook or an art journal.

🔍 Family & local history research — help getting started or continuing your current project.

EARN CREDITS WHILE YOU HELP RUN YOUR TIMEBANK

🎉 Events & Socials Champion — Bring the Joy

Some of the best things about Ryde Timebank don't happen online or in a spreadsheet. They happen in a room, over a cup of tea, when people realise they have more in common than they thought. That's what our events are for. And right now, we need someone — maybe you — to help make them happen. We're looking for members who want to take ownership of planning and organising our socials, coffee mornings, and community gatherings. You don't need to be an event professional, you just need a bit of enthusiasm and a desire to bring people together.

What does it actually involve? Picking a date. Booking a space. Sending a few messages. Making sure someone's on the door to say hello when people arrive. That's the bones of it. Everything else is just fun. And here's the thing — every hour you put in earns you Timebank credits. So you're not just giving, you're getting too.

Why does it matter? Events are where friendships start. They're where a quiet member suddenly comes alive. They're where someone discovers a skill swap they never knew they needed. Without events, the Timebank is just a list of names. With them, it becomes a community.

Ready to give it a go? Reply to this email and let us know. Even if you'd just like to help rather than lead — we'd love to hear from you. There's a role here for every level of involvement. Because the best communities aren't built by accident. They're built by people like you, who decided to show up.
