FWCC 92 ✅

27 members of Fullarton Wheelers Cycling Club took part in the 92 anniversary ride through the quiet roads of Perthshire. Another excellent day and effort. Thanks to TEE ROOM CAFE in Dunning for the coffee and cakes.

Best of luck to everyone on the FWCC away day anniversary ride tomorrow. If you fancy some world class cycling on local roads next weekend give the Ayrshire Alps challenge your attention. Locally organised, supporting worthwhile charitable causes and over Ayrshire's most challenging hills

https://ridingforgood.uk/

An exciting new sportive launched with great success in 2022, with a choice of the long 80 mile route with 2170m climb, a medium 62 mile route or the shorter 48 mile course with 1300m climb. Stiff climbs and sweeping descents over spectacular hills, including the iconic Nic o’Balloch, are guaranteed as are the really quiet roads.

After a successful trial run last year, we are delighted to offer a fourth route. This is a 65 mile gravel route with 5,200 feet of climbing and guaranteed 40% off road, with much of the rest virtually traffic free. Most of the gravel section is on good forest paths with just a few softer sections. The views are outstanding and wilderness feel is definitely a plus.

And there's home baking!

FWCC 92 - Away day - Gleneagles

Date : 30th May

Start : 9.30am

2 routes (92 miles or 92 kilometres)

Meeting point: carpark at far side of Blackford (towards Gleneagles) exit M9 and travel through town to Stirling Street.

Routes are ‘flat’ / ‘rolling’. No huge climbs this year - unless we get lost. Everyone does same route but 92 mile incudes loop of the loch.

At least 30 members and several friends of the club. All welcome.

1st Cafe stop for all riders - Tee Shop @ Dunning Golf Course

2nd will probably be Crieff (92km group), Locheardhead (92 mile group) or Gleneagles hotel (Gass group).

A quick roundup of the weekend's racing in FWCC colours - at the Royal Albert CC 10 mile TT on the Eglinton course, Thomas Walker opened his season with a quick 21.36 for 17th place. Allan Duncan had to be quick to hold of Ian Anderson with Allan recording 23.26 in 34th place just 2 seconds ahead of Ian in 36th place. That's it - I told you it would be quick!

Rain (and wind) stops play - sadly we've come to the decision that the sensible thing to do is postpone the Summer League prologue. We know that we're not renowned for good sense but since we're barely responsible enough to look after ourselves we don't want to be responsible for anything that might happen to others. We'll update with a revised date as soon as possible.
