This year the Ingleborough District AGM is being held at 7.30pm on Saturday, 19th September at The Knight’s Table in Little Stainforth.

Trustees make invaluable contributions to the District, and play an important role in supporting Scouting in the community. As part of our open selection process, we encourage new volunteers to step forward to ensure the continued success and growth of Scouting locally. The deadline for trustee nominations, to be sent to [email protected], is Saturday, 12th September.

Sparking a Lifelong Love of Nature

South Ingleborough Explorers met up with staff from the Ribble Rivers Trust, a Lancashire based charity working to improve the River Ribble and all its tributaries for both people and wildlife. They enjoyed an interactive talk about wildlife in local streams and rivers. Activities included identifying specimens taken from Tems Beck in Giggleswick and modelling a river in clay to understand how the topography of the land and water evolves over millennia!

Castleberg Cubs recently ventured out to Long Preston beck for an evening of teamwork in constructing the best possible dams across the beck. They were then treated to an end of term feast with a range of food brought by generous parents. A great evening out was had by all, although some of the Cubs returned somewhat wetter than when they arrived!

Many thanks to all the folk who cheered on the larger than life Squirrels as they promoted the Ingleton Scouts Squirrel Drey in the Gala Parade around the village, to all those who supported the Ingleton Scouts fund raising café in the Ingleborough Community Centre and everyone who visited the Ingleborough District Scouts stall on the field. It was great to see Scouts involved in community activities, working hard and having fun at the same time!

Don't miss the 1st Castleberg Scout Group - Settle exhibition and Silent Auction of creative art works by famous local artists. Doors will open at 11.00am on Saturday, July 4th, with bids for the Silent Auction closing at 4pm. Entry is free and refreshments will be available. Scan the QR code to view an online gallery to preview the available works before attending the live event.

Proceeds will contribute to renewing the roof, enhancing insulation and installing solar panels, thereby making the Drill Hall Scout HQ more eco-friendly.
