Only a week to go until paralympian gold medallist, Grace Harvey, comes to speak to us in Hunsdon Village Hall (Saturday 6th June at 7.30pm). Tickets are free but need to be booked on the link which will be in the comments. If you didn't know about her stunning victory in the 100m breastroke final at Paris 2024, here is a the footage. Looking forward to the parish walk on Monday. It is going to be hot, hot, hot! So although the dogs might love it in normal circumstances, they might prefer to stay at home given the forecast 28/29 degrees. A hat is advised and sun cream of course and a bottle of water to tide us over between the start and our refreshment stop. Look forward to seeing you there. Please don't forget to book in on the Hunsdon Open House webpage, so we know how many people need lifts from the Crown to the start of the walk. We have a tractor and farm tour trailer assisting in this process so plenty of room for lots of people. It will be hot, but hopefully with the right kit and lots of water, a lovely morning to enjoy the countryside.

Open House Hunsdon is thrilled to be hosting local paralympic gold medallist GRACE HARVEY on Saturday 6th June in Hunsdon Village Hall at 7.30pm.

She will be talking about her experience of life as a para swimmer, growing up locally, and the many medals and titles she has won which include 100m breast stroke gold in Paris and 100m breast stroke silver in Tokyo. She also has World and European Championship titles to her name and a Commonwealth silver medal.

We are delighted that Grace is giving up her time to come and speak to us and really look forward to hearing about her career and life as a swimmer while also juggling her busy life as a student and model. Grace is a very engaging and lively speaker and we can guarantee you will come away inspired and entertained.

THIS MONDAY 25th May! Open House Hunsdon brings ‘Beating the Bounds.’ A guided rural walk along 3.3 miles of country tracks, grassy paths and lanes.

The walk traces a part of the ancient boundaries of Hunsdon Parish, paying homage to the tradition of ‘Beating the Bounds’. A tradition that emerged before the use of maps, in order to pass on geographical knowledge between generations.

Come along to explore the Hunsdon countryside, half way stop with a cup of tea and a flapjack!

Meet at the Crown in Hunsdon at 10am. Dogs welcome!

· Everyone will be transported, including dogs, to the start of the walk near Roydon.

· We will walk the western boundary of the parish, following the Harcamlow Way for some of the walk, back to the Crown.

· There will be a stop to look at a WW2 memorial, another stop for refreshments and we will pause to pray for the parish at a point where we actually cross the parish boundary.

· The walk is 3.3 miles and should take 1.15-1.30 hours depending on how gently we take it. Including time for stops, we should hopefully be back at the Crown between 12-12.30pm

· We will try to walk roughly together, so no-one gets left behind.

· Dogs on leads are very welcome, indeed they are encouraged!
