Supporting Our Community 💙

On Monday, I had the pleasure of visiting Emmanuel House alongside Claire, the Community Champion from Tesco Toton.

Together, we served 45 members of the public throughout the morning. It was a wonderful opportunity to support the fantastic work that Emmanuel House does for people experiencing homelessness, vulnerability, and social isolation.

The team at Emmanuel House Support Centre provide vital services, practical support, and a welcoming environment for those who need it most. It was inspiring to see firsthand the positive impact they have on so many lives within the community.

A big thank you to everyone at Emmanuel House for the warm welcome. It was a privilege to play a small part in supporting such an important local organisation, and a reminder of how much can be achieved when communities come together to help one another.

We’re delighted to share that The Bookshelf raised an amazing £227.89 during May!

This month’s donation has been made to Trent Blood Bikes, a fantastic volunteer service that provides the urgent transportation of blood, platelets, pathology samples and donor breast milk for hospitals.

Your support will help Trent Blood Bikes continue their invaluable work, ensuring critical medical deliveries reach those who need them, when they need them most. Every pound raised helps keep this lifesaving service on the road and available to support patients and healthcare teams across the region.

A huge thank you to everyone who purchased, donated, and supported The Bookshelf throughout May. Together, you’re making a real difference in our community. 💙

📚 BOOKSHELF FUNDRAISER – THIS MONTH'S CHARITY 📚

This month, all money raised from our bookshelf will be donated to Maggie’s.

Maggie’s is a wonderful charity that provides free practical, emotional and psychological support to people living with cancer, as well as their families and friends. Their centres offer a welcoming space where people can find expert advice, support and comfort when they need it most.

If you have any books at home that you've already enjoyed and no longer need, please consider donating them to our bookshelf. Every book donated can help raise money for this fantastic cause.

📚🎒 School Stationery Appeal 🎒📚

We know how expensive it can be to prepare children for the move up to senior school, and we want to help support local families.

We're asking our wonderful community to donate any new stationery items and pencil cases that can help students start the new school year ready to learn.

Items we are collecting include:✏️ Pens and pencils📒 Notebooks and exercise books📏 Rulers, rubbers and sharpeners🎨 Colouring pencils and highlighters🎒 Pencil cases➕ Any other useful school stationery

All donations will be distributed to students at National Church of England School and Holgate Academy.

Every donation, big or small, can make a real difference to a young person's start to secondary school.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of visiting Holgate Academy 6th Form 📚✨

It was wonderful to meet the amazing staff and students and learn more about the fantastic opportunities they provide for young people 🌟

A huge thank you to Ella, one of the students, who reached out to us 🤝💙 We were delighted to donate lots of stationery supplies ✏️📓🖊️ for the students, and they were so pleased to receive them.

We’re really looking forward to continuing to work together and supporting the students at Holgate Academy 6th Form in the future 🙌

We were happy to provide Hucknall Flying High Academy with cereals for all the students taking their SATs tests this week.

The school will be providing every student with a hot breakfast, but for those who would prefer it, cereal will also be available as another option.

We’re always happy to help support our local schools and community.

🍎 Apples, apples, apples! 🍎

We have lots of fresh apples available to donate to local schools and community groups.

Tonight I took a box up to the 4th Hucknall Scouts and it was lovely to see all the children walking out with a couple of apples each 😊

Next week I’m planning on visiting Hillside Primary & Nursery School and Broomhill Junior School.

If you run or know of a group, football club, breakfast club, after-school club, or any community organisation that could benefit from some fresh apples, please get in touch 🍏🍎
