TAI CHI (TAIJI)

We are holding a taster session at Hornby Institute on Tuesday 3rd November at 1.30pm for an introductory price of just £5. If we receive sufficient interest, then we hope to offer regular sessions in the new year with a qualified instructor.

Recognised by the NHS as a part of integrated treatment, Taiji is a system of movement and mindfulness that can be used to strengthen the body and calm the mind. It is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels and can be performed either standing or seated. Regular practice has been shown to:

• Improve balance & posture
• Reduce stress & anxiety
• Increase flexibility & core strength
• Promote peace of mind
• Improve breathing & circulation

Because the practice is made up of gentle, low-impact exercises, it doesn't place extra wear and tear on muscles and joints.

Classes are non-competitive and the postures and exercises can be modified to fit in with each practitioner's levels of fitness and experience. All are welcome.

Classes are held in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere & guided by a qualified, experienced Taiji instructor.

No special equipment is needed; please wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water. You may train in shoes or bare foot.
