Burton Memorial Hall

Burton Memorial Hall Burton Memorial Hall is a village hall in Cumbria with rooms for hire. Reg charity #505018 (E & W).

Burton Memorial Hall is the village hall for Burton-in-Kendal, Cumbria. A registered charity, the Hall is run by a voluntary management committee and provides facilities for a wide range of users, social groups, sports, arts, educational and other activities for all ages. Built in the 1950s, the Hall is now in need of substantial renovation and upgrading, so we need to raise a considerable amount

of money to pay for the work. A programme of fund-raising activities and events is being planned, and we hope that everyone will come along and support these and help us to provide a venue suitable for the needs of 21st century users. We have an afternoon booking in the Hall today and the car park was full when we arrived to set up, none of them belonging to attendees at today's event. So if your car is in the Hall's private car park please move it somewhere else. Otherwise we are not responsible if your vehicle gets blocked in by our hirers. Thanks!

๐Ÿ’ƒ What a wonderful afternoon for the first event of our 70th anniversary celebrations! โ˜•๐ŸŽถ

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our 1950s Tea Dance and helped make it such a special event.

The hall was filled with music, dancing, laughter, homemade refreshments and some fantastic vintage outfits. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, along with plenty of new ones, all enjoying a trip back in time.

A special thank you goes to Rachel Grace - The Skylark of Vintage , whose fabulous voice and infectious enthusiasm had the dance floor busy all afternoon. The music, dancing and even a few dance lessons made for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. There were some truly amazing dancers, and then there were some of us whose enthusiasm was the only amazing thing! But we all had a great time ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you as well to everyone who baked, volunteered, helped set up and clear away, served refreshments, bought tickets and supported the event. Community events like this only happen because so many people quietly muck in behind the scenes.

We hope you enjoy these photos and perhaps spot yourself having a twirl across the dance floor!
