📚 This Month's Book Club Pick 📚

This month we're reading Piranesi by Susanna Clarke.

Imagine an endless House filled with thousands of statues, vast halls, and an ocean that flows through its rooms. Piranesi believes he understands his world—until he discovers clues that suggest there's far more to the House, and to himself, than he ever imagined.

Fair warning: about 50 pages in you may wonder what on earth I've made you all read. Trust the process. 😌

By the end you'll either be staring thoughtfully into the distance or texting someone, "YOU NEED TO READ THIS."

📖 We also have a dyslexia-friendly edition available, and we're happy to order additional accessible editions if anyone would prefer one.

Who's joining us in the House? 👀📚

The Ending Writes Itself ✍️

Book Synopsis:
Six aspiring authors are invited to a remote, fog-shrouded Scottish island to compete for a $2 million prize. Their task is to complete the unfinished final manuscript of a legendary, reclusive author who has recently died. As the pressure mounts and the writers die for their big break, the atmosphere turns deadly, proving that on this island, finishing the book might just be the last thing they ever do.

Our Review: 📢
We all agreed that the title felt incredibly clever once we reached the final page. While some of us found the first half a bit slow and felt the "dying one-by-one" setup leaned into familiar tropes, it was undeniably a classic, well-executed mystery. Even if the final twist wasn't shocking for everyone, the book’s nod to traditional Gothic tension made it a very satisfying, atmospheric read.

Next month's book to read is Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus.

Set in the 1960s, the story follows Elizabeth Zott, a brilliant scientist whose career takes an unexpected detour. When she becomes the reluctant host of a popular cooking show, she uses her platform to challenge the status quo in ways no one saw coming. It’s a sharp, funny, and inspiring look at a woman who refuses to play by the rules of her time

Hi everyone,

After the heavy lifting and... unsettling vibes of The Wasp Factory last month, I thought we all deserved a bit of a palate cleanser!

Let’s pivot to something much more uplifting and eccentric. Our next pick is The Satsuma Complex by Bob Mortimer. Expect less "dark family secrets" and a lot more of Bob’s signature wit and charm.

Can’t wait to hear what you all think!
