🚨 Wow… where have the last few weeks gone?! 🚨

You might be wondering what we’ve been up to at Hinckley Sea Cadets… honestly, the real question is — what haven’t we done?! 😄

🔬 Junior STEM Weekend at Kettering Unit

🧵 And finishing it all off with sewing practice tonight!

Last week was so busy that the only photos we managed to take were of the most important job… pancake making 🥞 And wow – they were very yummy!

Then it was the adults’ turn at the weekend 💪 The big clear-out has officially begun! One container completely gutted (we honestly didn’t realise how much was in there 😅). A skip is being ordered tomorrow and there’s a paint pot tip run on the to-do list too.

Roll on next month’s working party when we tackle the next container!

What a couple of weeks it’s been at TS Amazon!

Our cadets have been busy — diving into their specialisations in catering and basic seamanship, smashing a tent-building exercise on the main deck (success! 🙌), and wrapping it all up this weekend with an Intermediate Catering Course👩‍🍳⚓

That’s just what the cadets have been up to…

Behind the scenes, our amazing Unit Management Team are gearing up for a big clear-out at the unit starting next weekend, getting us ready for some very exciting news we’re hoping to share later this year 👀✨

Hinckley Sea Cadets have officially completed their **first week back after Christmas** – and what a return it’s been!

❄️ A *slight delay* thanks to the snow (safety first!), but once we were back on site the cadets hit the ground running…

🎒 AT kit lists shared for upcoming DofE expeditions
🌍 Our juniors kicking off their 3-month Earthshot Challenge

⚓ What an end to the year 2025 that was at Hinckley Sea Cadets (TS Amazon)!⚓

From our RNP inspection and Children in Need night, to the Trafalgar Dinner (for the adults!), a spectacular Bonfire Night, and our Presentation Evening – it’s safe to say the end of the year was action-packed. A well-earned two-week Christmas break was definitely needed to recharge and get us ready for an exciting **2026** ahead!

This year, our ambition is to grow the unit in every way – increasing cadet and volunteer numbers, expanding the activities and opportunities we offer, and continuing to improve our facilities. None of this is possible without the incredible support of our local community, so we’re reaching out for a little help:

1️⃣ Raffle & Tombola Donations
If you have any new or like-new items suitable for raffles or tombolas, we’d be hugely grateful. Donations can be dropped off at the unit (Rear of the Wharf, Coventry Road, Hinckley, LE10 1JF):
• Wednesdays: 18:15 – 20:30
• Fridays: 19:15 – 21:30

2️⃣ Funding & Sponsorship Support
If you work for, or know of, a company that supports charities through funding for projects or equipment, please get in touch. We have an exciting programme of improvements planned for the year ahead.

3️⃣ Volunteer With Us
Do you have a couple of hours a month and want to make new friends, have fun, and make a real difference to young people’s lives? Volunteering with us is flexible – from fully trained adult volunteers to helping at just one fundraising event a year. Every bit helps!

Looking for a new interest for your child? We welcome cadets aged 10–17 offering a wide range of water-based and land activities that build confidence, teamwork, and life skills. Cadets can also gain recognised qualifications in areas such as paddle sports, rowing, sailing, power boating, catering, first aid – and much more as they progress.
In addition, we offer the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards.

🎉 Hinckley Sea Cadets – Children in Need Night! 🐻💛

Friday 14th November

Where do we even start?! We haven’t laughed this hard in ages! From chaotic bingo to apple bobbing mayhem — and ending with cadets buying mystery ingredients to pour over the staff (yes… really!) — the whole unit was buzzing! 🤣🍏🎉

Every single cadet was an amazing sport and helped make the night unforgettable. But the biggest shoutout goes to AC (Able Cadet) Evans, who braved a sponsored head shave for Children in Need! 👏💈(Photos in comments)

We’ve already raised £440 — and there’s still more on the way! 💛🐻
Huge thanks to everyone who took part and supported such an amazing cause.

Massive congratulations to Sketchley Hill Primary School PTA for putting on a fabulous event tonight — the laser show was absolutely brilliant! 💫👏

Well done on all your hard work pulling it together (we know it’s no easy task!)

For us, it was all about teamwork, smiles, and top-notch effort! 😄

A huge thank you to all the cadets and volunteers who gave their time — the feedback was glowing (as always 😉).

You’re all an absolute credit to the unit — we couldn’t be prouder! 💥👏
