Leader recruitment

1st Hillside -5th Angus Scout Group are looking to recruit leaders for both our scout and cubs sections to start from August.

Where you’ll be:
We are lucky to have a purpose built scout hall with excellent facilities and most importantly we have direct access to outside space at Hillside playing fields leading across to Rosemount Woods

What’s the commitment?
Weekly sessions between 90 minutes and 2 hours (depending on which section).
Completion of a PVG
Completion of e-learning modules

What support is available?
We have a very supportive Group Lead Volunteer, many supportive leaders and assistant leaders and an excellent group of trustees.

What’s in it for me?
This is a great CV booster for anyone who may be job hunting in a people related career.
Volunteering gives back to the community where we live and work.
You’ll be helping to support and develop around 80 children coming through all our sections every year.
It’s a great way to meet new people and learn from more experienced leaders.

We are particularly looking for a leader to take over the organisation of the scout group with support from assistant leaders.

Great work last weekend at our woodland area by some of our woodland team clearing a path and getting rid of a load of thistles.
We are fortunate to have lots of regeneration going on and will be encouraging different native species to grow into strong, healthy trees.

Congratulations to Blake Cameron and Logan Girdler on completing their Chief Scout’s Gold Award.
This is the top award in Scouting and involves completing 8 Challenge awards including volunteering, leading a team, finding out about the local community, as well as taking part in adventurous activities and an expedition. Between them they have 45 nights away camping in Scotland and abroad. Well done to both!

Congratulations to Stefan Jachnik on his 10 year award with Scouts.
Stefan has been involved with the Group’s cub section for over 10 years. During that time, he has organised and run numerous activities for young people and several District Cub camps as well as supporting the Group at our various fundraisers.
Well done and thank you!
