🍎🥧 Nothing nicer than homemade apple crumble! 🥧🍎

Our members loved getting stuck in , peeling, chopping and preparing apples to make a delicious homemade apple crumble. ❤️

Activities like this are about so much more than just making something tasty. They help promote independence, maintain fine motor skills, encourage teamwork and, most importantly, bring back those precious memories.

There were plenty of opportunities to reminisce about scrumping apples as children, cooking with Granny and even getting chased by the policeman! 😂🍎

It's these simple, everyday activities that can spark wonderful conversations, bring smiles to faces and help create new happy memories together.

At Leominster Meeting Centre, we believe it's the little things that make a big difference. 💚

And the best bit? Getting to enjoy the crumble afterwards! 😋🥧

Do you have a few hours to spare and enjoy making people smile?

At Leominster Meeting Centre, we provide a warm, welcoming and supportive environment for people living with dementia, helping them stay active, independent and socially connected.

Our amazing volunteers are a huge part of what makes our centre so special, and we'd love to welcome some new faces to our team! 💜

☕ Whether it's making a cuppa and having a chat, joining in with games and activities, helping with arts and crafts, sharing a skill or simply offering a listening ear, your time could make a real difference.

✅ No previous experience necessary – just a friendly face, patience and a willingness to get involved.

⏰ Even a few hours a week can make a difference!

Leominster Meeting Centre – Supporting People to Live Well with Dementia

At Leominster Meeting Centre, we do so much more than provide a place to spend the day.

We provide a welcoming, friendly and supportive environment where people living with dementia and memory difficulties can enjoy meaningful activities, build friendships, maintain their independence and, most importantly, be themselves.

Our days are filled with laughter, conversation, music, creativity, gentle exercise, outings and everyday activities that help maintain skills and build confidence.

Something as simple as preparing vegetables for lunch helps maintain fine motor skills, independence and a sense of purpose.

Sitting together, sharing stories and having a good laugh encourages communication, reminiscence and social connections.

Our activities are tailored to individual interests and abilities, giving everyone the opportunity to participate in a way that suits them.

But our work doesn't stop with our members. We also support families and carers, offering reassurance, advice and valuable respite, knowing their loved ones are spending the day in a caring and understanding environment.

Every person matters, every achievement counts, and sometimes it's the smallest moments that make the biggest difference.

Leominster Meeting Centre – Promoting Confidence and Independence

At Leominster Meeting Centre, promoting confidence and independence happens in so many different ways, often through the simplest everyday activities.

Preparing vegetables for lunch might seem like a small task, but it helps maintain fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and confidence in using everyday tools such as knives and peelers. It also gives our members a sense of purpose and achievement, knowing they are contributing to the group's lunch.

A chat amongst the chaps– Today, some of our gentlemen chose to move away from the main group, sit together, share stories and have a good laugh.

This might seem like an ordinary conversation, but it encourages social interaction, reminiscence, communication, friendships and, most importantly, the confidence to make their own choices.

Independence isn't always about doing something on your own. Sometimes it's about having the confidence to make a decision, join a conversation, share a memory or simply enjoy being yourself.

At Leominster Meeting Centre, we recognise that it's often the little things that make the biggest difference.

It's not just about keeping busy. It's about maintaining skills, building confidence, encouraging independence and helping everyone feel valued.

It’s our amazing members, carers, volunteers and support workers who make the Meeting Centre the fabulous, friendly and supportive place it is. Every person plays a part in creating such a special community.

🎨 Finding our creative side!

Today’s art session was all about enjoying creativity in whatever way felt right.

From paints to oil pastels, everyone had the chance to experiment and have a go. Some chose to simply colour a picture, while others showed a real flair for art and created something completely their own.

And art isn’t for everyone — a few chose not to take part and instead enjoyed reading poetry with us. 📚
