📢 Need support or advice? Contact us directly.

To help us respond to members as quickly as possible, please contact the branch directly with any workplace issues, requests for advice or representation.

The best ways to get in touch are:

✅ Complete our branch enquiry form - https://unisonabc.org.uk/contact-us/
✅ Speak directly to your local steward - https://unisonabc.org.uk/whos-who/

Enquiries submitted through UNISON Membership Services or other routes may take longer to reach the branch, which can delay our response.

Please remember that your Branch Officers and Workplace Stewards are lay representatives who carry out union duties alongside their full-time jobs.

We are committed to supporting members and will always do our best to respond as quickly as possible, but we appreciate your patience and understanding.

Proposals to radically reshape Scotland’s councils will have major implications for the workers who deliver vital local services and the communities that rely on them.

UNISON Scotland is clear. Reform must be done with workers, not to workers.

Jobs must be protected. Services must be properly funded. And the workforce and their trade unions must have a meaningful voice in shaping what comes next.

🟣 🟢 UNISON Scotland has submitted its 2027-28 local government pay claim to COSLA.

Our claim calls for:

🟢 £1.60 per hour or 7%, whichever is greater, across all spinal column points and related allowances.

🟢 A commitment from COSLA to work with trade unions to oppose cuts to jobs, services and local government funding, including those arising from the Scottish Government’s public sector reform agenda.

🟢 Parity with other local government bargaining groups, ensuring SJC staff receive no less than equal treatment.

Fair pay. Properly funded services. Investment in local government workers. ⬇️

‼️ Public Sector Reform in Local
Government ‼️

Major changes are being proposed to how local government in Scotland is structured and services are delivered.

UNISON's priorities are clear: protect jobs, services, local democracy and accountability - and ensure workers and trade unions have a real voice in any reform.

Read the briefing and share it with colleagues.

There has never been a more important time to be a member of UNISON. 💜💚
