The Helensburgh Brownies had a Christmas-themed sleepover in their halls at the weekend - 29 Brownies, six adults and a Young Leader. You may have seen them around town on their town trail. They made lots of crafts, played games, didn’t sleep very much and completed various badges. And they (or their families) donated lots of food to the Helensburgh Food Bank. All part of the ‘helping other people’ and ‘serving the community’ parts of their Brownie Promise. Well done Brownies!

What a beautiful day to be out in the Square. Lovely music, lots of people to chat to and amazing weather. We told lots of people about Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers and the benefits of volunteering with Girlguiding. And we got some really interesting answers to our question about where people had been involved in Girlguiding the past.

Come and meet us in the square on Saturday as part of the celebrations of the centenary of TV as invented by the famous Helensburgh resident, John Logie Baird.

Did you know that Guides were in Helensburgh before TV was even a twinkle in JLB’s eye? We’ve been here since 1912 and in our hall in John Street since 1925. And still going strong!
