4th race of the year didn’t end well xx
Sorry for the late update from the Bath 50k at the weekend, but I wanted to inform Walk the Walk and let them be the first to know before giving at update.
Unfortunately, at around the half way mark I took a very bad fall on a very muddy section of the course. This resulted in me not being able to get up, an ambulance was called and after an assessment it was decided I needed a trip to A&E. Which was a task in its self and resulted in some not so nice drugs and a lot of hooping.
I had my own personal driver that kindly delivered me to the hospital (Andy -Lucy’s Husband). The long and short of it is that I have broken my ankle (or rather smashed it) and am now in a temporary cast awaiting an operation in 2 weeks.
So it is with great sadness that I have to say I will now not be taking part in this year’s LONDON MARATHON.
And after 26 years of doing events Saturday saw me receive my first ever DNF (did not finish) for a race. To say I’m gutted is a bit of an understatement.
Would like to say a massive thank you to Lucy for staying with me whilst waiting for the ambulance, Kim for helping to get the ambulance to me, Andy for getting me to A&E, Mum & Dad for getting back home and to Tina & Simon for getting me home home in one piece.
Also to everyone that was taking part that stopped to see if they could help and for the kind people that gave me extra space blankets.
Gynette x
