Can you help?

2nd Haverhill Sea Scouts are seeking a new Chairperson.

We are looking for someone to Chair our termly meetings, a couple of hours per time. You would be responsible for checking the group was complying with Scout and Charity guidelines. In return we can offer tea and biscuits and the satisfaction of sharing the young people’s achievements, whether that’s a top award or a night staying away from family on their own.

The role would require an enhanced DBS check and you must not be disqualified from sitting as a charity trustee. You do not need to have been a Scout or have previous experience. Please share with anyone who you think might be interested.

Our young people were very lucky to join with 1st Haverhill and have a sleepover at the secret nuclear bunker. Lots of tired youngsters (and leaders!) today but everyone seemed to have a good time.

A little bit of festive knotting last night for our Scouts.

We’ve had a fun few weeks in Scouts; we took part in UK Parliament week where we learned how parliament works, took part in our own debate and voted at the ballot box. Then we worked towards our Chef badge planning a menu for a weekend camp and culminating in cooking a two course meal last night consisting of toad in the hole with mashed potatoes and jam sponge and custard. I’m proud to say that the cleared up afterwards and left the kitchen spotless. Well done Scouts.

Thank you to everyone who braved the rain on Saturday to support Haverhill Scouts and Guides. We raised £240 towards our new permanent range.

Fabulous turn out for Remembrance Parade, thank you. You all looked very smart in your uniform. Great job by the flag bearers and we were complimented by bystanders for the smartness and great salute from our wreath layer, very well done.
