We were delighted to be part of "Safety Week" with the team at Merck Life Science.

The week includes safety updates and refreshers across a range of topics, and we were pleased to be able to deliver the East of England Ambulance Service Charity "Heart" course to some of the team as part of this important initiative.

All attendees are now well versed in what to do in the event of a cardiac arrest, and can now be confident in using the on-site Defibrillator.

Merck are a great supporter of our First Responder team with generous charitable donations that help us deliver training, maintain public access AED's and continue to respond to 999 calls in Haverhill and the surrounding area.

A huge thank you to Andy 父 Palazon for organising a fantastic Family Day at The New Croft today. 🙏

Sunshine, smiles, laughter and a brilliant community atmosphere all round… it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the day together. 😎

An enormous thank you as well for raising an incredible £405 for Haverhill First Responders. ✨

Support like this makes an enormous difference to our group and the local community. The funds will help us remain equipped to attend life-threatening emergencies, keep our public access AEDs serviceable, and continue delivering free CPR and AED training sessions to the community. 🚑

An amazing effort from everyone involved, and we are incredibly grateful for the support shown today. 💚

Thank you again, generosity like this is so uplifting for the entire team.

Last night members of the Haverhill Community First Responders were pleased to support Steeple Bumpstead Community First Responder Group Z7052 - was EZ25 with a CPR & AED awareness evening at Sturmer Village Hall.

Sessions like these help give local people the confidence to step forward in an emergency and begin lifesaving treatment before the arrival of the ambulance service. Early CPR and early defibrillation really can make the difference in a cardiac arrest.

It was fantastic to see members of the local community taking the time to come along, learn new skills, ask questions and have a go using the training equipment.

A big thank you to Steeple First Responders for organising the evening, to Sturmer Village Hall & Terri for hosting, and to everyone who attended and supported the session.

The more people in our communities who know CPR and how to use an AED, the safer our towns and villages become. ❤️

A huge *THANK YOU* to The EpiCentre Haverhill in Haverhill for once again allowing us to use their fantastic facilities for another public CPR and AED awareness course.

Having accessible venues like this makes a real difference, helping us provide free, practical life-saving training to members of the local community.

We’re also incredibly grateful to Merck Group, who have kindly agreed to make a donation to support the Haverhill First Responders. Even better, they are looking to partner with us over the coming year, which is fantastic news for our team and the community we serve.

As volunteers, support like this really matters. It helps us continue responding locally, maintain our equipment, support public access defibrillators, and be there when people need us most.

Thank you to The EpiCentre, Merck, and everyone who continues to support community first responding in Haverhill.

Together, we can help save lives.

Today, the Haverhill Community First Responders welcomed Community Education Trainers for a valuable day of additional training, where Sydney, Emma, Rebecca, Robin, Damian and Brad were able to expand their skill set to include responding to non-injury falls.

Our responders were already trained to attend injury-related falls, but this additional training now enables them to respond to patients in the community who may have fallen but do not necessarily require an emergency ambulance response. Following assessment, responders may now be able to safely assist, lift and discharge patients on scene where appropriate.

This helps ensure patients receive timely care and support, whilst also helping free up frontline ambulance crews for higher acuity emergencies across the region.

Throughout the day, training included:

• Recap of top-to-toe assessment
• Relevant additional patient assessment
• Moving and handling techniques
• Use of falls sheets
• Use of the Raizor chair
• Use of handling belts
• Administration and process

We were also pleased to be joined by other local responder groups for the training day, and we are incredibly proud to continue developing the skills of our volunteers to better support the local community.

A huge thank you to the Community Education Trainers for their time, support and expertise.
