The Hunter Centre - Haslemere

The Hunter Centre - Haslemere The Hunter Centre is a charity established to support those living with dementia in Haslemere and the surrounding areas.

No County boundaries exist and everyone is welcome who feels they could benefit from being in a small friendly community which understands the problems associated with dementia. The day care facility operates from 9.30am until 3.30pm from The Marjorie Gray Hall, Grayswood Road, Haslemere GU27 2BW. Most clients have medium to high needs but an assessment is carried out by our Operations Manager o

r her Deputy with their Carer present on a first visit to the Centre for all parties to decide if they feel it is the best place to be. Socialisation for the clients is important as are activities to stimulate their brains and this will be discussed at a first visit. Once registered at the Centre, Carers can finally feel they can comfortably leave their loved ones for a few hours for some much needed respite

Today we had the pleasure of meeting local artist Kirsty Rouse who very generously donated one of her paintings to us to enhance our day centre. We chose the beautiful forget me not painting which will now be hung pride of place in our hall.

You can see more of Kirsty's work on her website www.kirstyjrouse.co.uk

National Volunteer Week 2026

The staff and clients would like to say a big 'Thank you' to all our amazing volunteers without whom The Hunter Centre wouldn't be able to run 🥰The trustees, the musicians, the flower ladies, Haslemere WI and of course, those who help us with the day to day running of the day centre.

*****IMPORTANT*****
People with dementia may not recognise that they are thirsty and can become dehydrated, this can be even more dangerous in these current conditions, causing confusion and urinary tract infections.
They may struggle to get themselves a drink or ask you for one.
Placing a glass of water in front of someone doesn't always mean they will drink it.
An empty glass doesn't always mean its been drunk. They may have spilt it, drunk by someone else or been poured away.
Jelly Drops are an innovative sugar- free hydrating treat made with 95% water, plus electrolytes and vitamins.

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Open Evening last night.
It was very interesting to hear Gregory Stafford MP talk about his work with the Health and Social Care Committee.
We are very lucky to have Greg as one of our Patrons and our local Member of Parliament.

Wow !! What a night!!
Last night, despite the inclement weather, almost 100 people enjoyed a night of food and dancing at Imbhams Farm, Holdfast Lane, while raising much needed funds for The Hunter centre.
A big Thank you to Maggie Barlow and Furnace Place Estate for providing the venue and meat for the delicious Lamb Tagine, cooked by Trevor Cruicshank.
Ben's Ice Cream for the dessert.
J& B Marquee and Events Hire for providing the staging and lighting
To Let's Toast Mobile Bar Hire for keeping everyone watered.
and to The Farleys AKA Charley Farley Sunday Four who kept us all entertained and had us up dancing right from the start.
And finally, a big Thank you to the companies who made donations towards the evening, Couchman Hanson, Straightline Fencing and Blackmoor Estate.
