Harleston's Future was set up by local residents and businesses to ensure the continued prosperity and well-being of Harleston on the Norfolk/Suffolk border.

Events and community initiatives add vitality to the town and attract more visitors. Harleston's Future was established by Harleston & District Business Forum in 2013 to help the town respond to change and draw in visitors to support the local shops and businesses. We believe that Harleston, with its plethora of historic buildings and architecture, delightful range of independent shops, cafe's, pubs and hotels and its position in the heart of the beautiful Waveney Valley, makes a fabulous addition to any holiday itinerary or day out from City or Coast.

A packed house this morning enjoyed a great talk from members of Harleston's Future on how they help bring more footfall into our wonderful town. From organising community events to running a local cinema, they support and grow a diverse range of services that benefit both local residents and businesses, as well as raising the profile of Harleston more widely. It was interesting to hear how each project that they are involved in is planned and implemented. The poster photo below gives a quick snapshot of the different areas in which they are active.

Things happening today!!

* Limited Edition Card - The clock tower sketch featured on the front cover of the programme of events was drawn by local resident, Peter Metcalf, who has generously donated it to Harleston’s Future to mark this special occasion. We have printed150 limited edition cards and they will be available to buy at Robinson's Traditional Stationers from Saturday 24 October for £1.50.

* 'Time to explore the clock walk'- Explore Harleston’s rich history with this self-guided walking leaflet created by local historian Kate Chenneour. The walk takes you around the town, highlighting the clock tower alongside some lesser-known sites connected to Harleston’s fascinating history of goldsmithing and clockmaking.
Pick up a leaflet from Robinson's Traditional Stationers or Harleston Information Plus throughout the event.

* Starting TODAY - Time to Remember - The Royal British Legion invites you to join their ‘Time to Remember’ week, bringing Harleston’s history to life with a fascinating display of local historic treasures and artefacts.
The Swan Hotel - Sat 31st of Oct - Sat 7th Nov - 9am-4pm

Things happening for the rest of this week!

* 'Find the Time' - Harleston’s Future, in partnership with Bullock Fair Charity Shop, are running a family-friendly trail around the town. Look out for 10 different ‘times’ displayed directly on shop windows or within their window displays.

Look for the extra mystery item hiding in one of the windows, that has been loaned by Redenhall with Harleston Town Council.

Entry forms are available from Robinson’s Traditional Robinson's Traditional Stationers Completed entries must be returned to Robinson’s by 10am on Saturday 31 October to be
in with a chance of winning a prize 🎁

Join us for a relaxed afternoon of tea, coffee, handmade cakes and good company, with gentle music playing in the background. Voluntary donations are gratefully received but are not compulsory

A chance to see a free exhibition of photos of over a century of street scenes in Harleston featuring the iconic Harleston Clock Tower, taken from the Clock Tower and taken inside the Clock Tower - 150 years old this November.

There will also be works by local artists. Hosted in the Swan Carvery, organised by Harleston Future with the support of Harleston with Redenhall Town Council and Norfolk County Council under the 'Love your Market Town' initiative.

Due to illness the 'Time Gentleman Please!' event which was due to start tomorrow at The Harleston Swan Hotel has been postponed until further notice.
