Active Black Country Helping the Black Country get active, feel better and live healthier, happier lives.

The Black Country has a long and colourful history of sporting achievement, nurturing champions including Denise Lewis, Tessa Sanderson, Duncan Edwards and Eleanor Simmonds. Building on this heritage, sports provision in the area has evolved rapidly in recent years, with plans for even more top-class programmes and facilities in the near future.

๐Ÿ‘ We had an amazing time at the Inspiring the Black Country Careers Exhibition in Wolverhampton!

Speaking to students from different schools, telling them all about Active Black Country, and giving them the opportunity to take part in our fun activities really made the day special. It was fantastic to see so many young people engaging with the opportunities available in sport and physical activity.

It was equally special to have Halesowen College supporting us throughout the day with Cedric the digital bus, as well as The Change Agency, both helping to inspire the next generation to explore careers and opportunities within the sector.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to talk to us, including the teachers, students, stall holders, and staff members. Well done to everyone involved in putting on such a great event ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ“ข Tomorrow is the big day!

Join us at Inspiring the Black Country Careers Exhibition at Dunstall Park, Wolverhampton Racecourse! We're teaming up with Halesowen College, with CEDRIC the digital bus joining the shared exhibition stand.

Inspiring the Black Country is all about opening young people up to exciting local opportunities and future career pathways.

On Wednesday, weโ€™ll be joining partners from across the region to provide young people with hands-on, interactive experiences that bring careers to life in a fun and engaging way.

The event will feature:
- Fun learning activities and challenges
- Digital experiences
- Opportunities to meet employers, training providers and community organisations
- Advice and inspiration to support young people on their career journeys

Designed for students aged 11โ€“18, the exhibition helps young people learn what options are available to them after school. Our focus will be on introducing students to career opportunities in the sport & physical activity sector.

๐Ÿ‘ Weโ€™re looking forward to inspiring the next generation!

๐Ÿ›Ÿ Itโ€™s Drowning Prevention Week, and weโ€™re proud to support the Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK highlighting the importance of water safety.

As the weather gets warmer, more young people spend time outdoors, often in and around water. This makes it the perfect time to share vital water safety skills that help everyone enjoy the water safely.

We encourage families, carers, community groups and educators to talk to children about water safety and raise awareness of the risks associated with open water. With the right education and awareness, accidental drownings can be prevented.

๐Ÿšด What helps people to be more active?

In our latest podcast, we explore what we're hearing from communities across Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

Through community engagement, we're gaining valuable insight into the real life factors that support or prevent people from being active. By listening to local voices, we're helping shape approaches that reflect what matters most to residents.

๐ŸŽ™ Featuring Jodi Adams (Strategic Lead for Active Communities), alongside our Community Engagement Officers Masuma Begum and Saqib Amin.
